Weekly Newsletter Autumn 2019 Week 4

Two local schools joined us this week for some collaborative learning experiences. ‘Team Thunberg’ from Windsor Girls School shared their award winning design for an ecoclassroom with Forms 5 and 6. There were plenty of innovative ideas exchanged between both schools including kinetic floors and sewage building bricks!

We also welcomed St Edward’s Middle school who joined us for an informative and practical session on plastic reduction in schools. We are always delighted to welcome colleagues and pupils from within our community and enjoy working together on issues that affect us all. Sarah Walker We have a small supply of Upton bobble hats, an optional item on our uniform list. If you would like to purchase one, they are available from the School Office priced at £14.50.

Ahead of Harvest Festival next week, we are still collecting donations for Slough Foodbank and Windsor Foodshare. Items of dried food (see list in email sent 11/10/19) can be left in the boxes situated outside the Prep building. We look forward to you joining us for our Harvest celebration at Holy Trinity Church, 9.15am on Friday 11th October. Next Thursday, 10th October, is this year’s World Mental Health Day which provides the opportunity to raise awareness of how important it is to stay healthy mentally, as well as physically. This year we are supporting the #HellowYellow campaign run by YoungMinds, the UK’s leading charity fighting for children and young people’s mental health by asking children to come to school on Thursday wearing mufti incorporating something yellow. This can be something small (for example a hairband, ribbon, socks, scarf) or T-Shirt/trousers or maybe an entire outfit! Please bring in a small donation to give to your form teacher—thank you so much for your support. During the week please feel free to visit our Wellbeing Library, or pick up one of our parent leaflets which will be available from the School Office next week. These covers subjects such as managing sleep, anxiety, ideas for selfcare and top tips for talking. Anna Hewitt Upton House School
