Weekly Newsletter Autumn 2018 Week 11 Thank you Miss Smith and Parliament Club for the wonderful cake sale this afternoon reminding us all of the Suffragettes. We started the week equally reflecting on history with our poignant remembrance service. It was lovely to see all the spots around school today in aid of Children in Need; we very much enjoy supporting these well established charity events. The Middle and Senior Choirs are singing at the switching on of Windsor’s Christmas lights tomorrow, Saturday 17th. The programme of entertainment starts at 3.30pm and our choirs will be performing at 4pm on the stage near to Queen Victoria’s statue and the Christmas Tree. The lights will be switched on at 5.30pm. With best wishes for the weekend, Rhian Thornton During Parliament Week this week the Prep Department had an inspiring talk by councillor Natasha Airey where the girls had to make campaign promises. In her work as a local councillor, Natasha told the girls her motto is Impossible Difficult Done just like Upton’s Dream Dare Do. Each Prep girl was given a Discover the UK Parliament booklet to take home, full of fun facts, games and information on everything to do with the House of Commons, House of Lords and what happens during an election. It also gives tips on how they can get involved with their UK Parliament. Today’s lunch was even Suffragette themed with purple beetroot soup, purple spaghetti and Suffragette trifle. Our ‘votes for women’ cake sale was a success and we raised over £100 for the Royal British Legion. Sarah Smith Another busy week of sport at Upton with three away matches too. Form 3 were at Coworth Flexlands for a hockey match at Coworth Flexlands on Tuesday with one loss and one draw. Form 5 were at The Marist for a netball match on Wednesday with one win and one loss and Form 4 were at Coworth Flexlands too for a hockey match resulting in a win and a drawer. All participants showed progression, enthusiasm and great team spirit.
