The Finest Palate of Pakistan

F

ounded by Aziz Noorani, Chef Faisel Ahmad, and Aftab Bawani, Lasbela Restaurant reflects the finest standards of Pakistan. The atmosphere, the interior, the food and even the dinnerware are contemporary while reminiscing all the way back to the fabulous palaces of the Mughal Dynasty. “This is an experience,” explains Aziz. “It’s a celebration of Pakistani culture, tradition, religion, music, art, architecture, and history through our cuisine.” “There’s a common misconception that Pakistani food is similar to Indian,” continues Aziz. “It’s not. Our cuisine is prepared according to the values and guidelines of halal. There’s nothing complicated about halal, it merely refers to the humane slaughtering of the animals...resulting in superior taste. We prepare a variety of proteins, including lamb, goat, chicken, beef, and seafood (both fin and shellfish). Aromatic herbs and spices give the food a very rich flavor.” Chef Faisel says, “The base of our food is 400 years of Mughal history. I’ve fused that base with local flavors using a variety of cooking techniques. There’s something on the menu that everyone can identify with and relate to.” Selections include appetizers, soups, salads, barbecue entrees, grilled entrees, currys, rice items, desserts, and both traditional and trendy drinks. All food is always fresh, never frozen.

Lasbela is currently the only Pakistani white tablecloth fine dining restaurant in the United States. Aziz studied at the Culinary Institute of America. He earned a Master’s Degree in Hospitality and Marketing and has more than 25 years experience in the industry. “I searched the United States for the perfect place to open my vision. I selected Sugar Land for its diversity and opportunity.” Launched just over a year ago, Lasbela boasts a 4.9 star rating on Google with nearly 1,500 reviews. The wallof-fame at the entrance is peppered with local, national and international celebrities. This is a happy, happening place with something going on every month: live jazz, standup comedy, karaoke, and holiday celebrations. “We celebrate traditional holidays and local holidays,” says Aziz. “Check our website, Facebook or Instagram for upcoming events.” Loyalty cards and Lasbela Club memberships are on the horizon and will include access to a variety of privileges. Dining is open for both lunch and dinner. Lasbela offers to-go, delivery, and catering tray options. For special events, Lasbela can host up to 60 people in its private room, and up to 250 people in the banquet room. Catering is also available, including outdoor “live” backyard catering that’s “barbecue to plate.” “We wanted to bring something different to this community, the community my family and I call home,” says Aziz. “When you stop in, ask for me. I can’t wait to meet you!”

COOKING IT ALL

by Amy Sharp

“JUST RIGHT” FOR 45 YEARS

L

upe Garcia grew up in a family of 11. She’s been cooking for a large crowd for as long as she can remember! “The very first thing I remember cooking is mole,” says Lupe. For 22 years, Lupe cooked for a wellknown Tex-Mex chain...a restaurant still benefiting from her authentic family recipes. She then spent another five years cooking for other restaurants. Eighteen years ago, Lupe took the plunge into business ownership with her husband Jaime, and Lupita’s Mexican Restaurant was born. At Lupita’s Mexican Restaurant, you’ll find the same mole that Lupe learned to make fresh more than 45 years ago...served hot on the only mole enchiladas you’ll find in Sugar Land. The salsa is made from scratch every day using roasted tomatoes, and it’s served warm. Both the corn tortillas and flour tortillas are handmade. All ingredients are always fresh. Jaime says, “No one makes food as good as Lupe. She’s picky, and everything has to be just right!” Hear that? There’s no need to go inside the loop for the best Tex-Mex. It’s

right here in our backyard! Even better? Lupita’s margaritas are just $4, all day, every day. The holidays are coming up. If you’re planning a get-together, Lupita’s Mexican Restaurant can bring Lupe’s family recipes to you. Catering includes fresh, fabulous fajitas marinated with hand-ground spices delivered to your party and kept hot in chafing dishes. “Give us a call to discuss all of your catering options,” says Jaime. “We are always available to help you throw a really fun fiesta.” It’s been a tough year for restaurants with the pandemic. Lupe and Jaime feel blessed to have survived it. “You, our community, have kept us going.” says Jaime. “From the bottom of hearts, thank you. We are still here because of you.”

This Thanksgiving

T

echnically, we’re in the middle of fall with winter on its way...and that means heating season. But the weather here in Fort Bend County rarely gets too cold for Thanksgiving. Even if it’s a bit cool, the equation changes when you have friends or family members over for the holidays. Brian Jackson, owner of local Jackson Air and Heat, says, “Here are a few simple steps you can take to ensure your home is cozy and pleasant for all of your holiday gettogethers this season.” Whether your heater or your air conditioner is required on Thanksgiving—or later in the winter— you want to make sure it’s functioning as it should before guests arrive. “If there’s an issue that’s been lingering,” says Brian, “get it taken care of now. If you haven’t scheduled maintenance yet on your HVAC system this year, now would be an excellent time to do so. Furnace check ups should always occur BEFORE the furnace is needed. Not getting your

annual inspection can put your family and your guests at risk.” “We also recommend running the A/C before your guests arrive,” continues Brian. “If you have a newer A/C system with a dehumidifier, even better. The chances of it being humid in our neck of the woods are always good. Running the A/C with the dehumidifier will reduce the amount of ambient moisture in the air.” “Finally, turn the heat down or the A/C up,” says Brian. “Multiple people in your home will elevate the temperature, as will running your oven and stove for hours. You can compensate by setting the heater or air conditioner (whichever is needed) five degrees cooler than you normally would in order to keep your home comfortable.” If it’s time for a new air conditioner, family-owned Jackson Air and Heat is the oldest Trane dealer in Sugar Land. With instant manufacturer’s rebates or

0% financing, plus rebates from CenterPoint, right now is a great time to take advantage of offseason prices on a variable-speed Trane system. Brian says, “With these systems, there’s no more hot spots, no more high energy bills, and they lower the humidity in your home. Real wins in our Southeast Texas climate.” From the Jackson family to yours: “Have a very happy and safe Thanksgiving!”

More Than a Quarter Century

of All-Natural Pizza!

by Amy Sharp

ay Salti, father of three boys, knows that no matter what you do...your kids are going to crave pizza. That’s one reason he founded the first Pepperoni’s back in 1990 as an old-style relaxed pizza parlor with a friendly and family-oriented atmosphere. Ray says, “I was concerned about the ingredients in the food my kids were eating...so I decided to go all-natural. Every Pepperoni’s pizza uses natural mozzarella cheese and premium tomatoes for the sauce. I believe food should taste good...and be good for you too!” Today, this pizza represents a quarter century of perfection! Now made with nonGMO untreated wheat flour, whether you’re in the mood for Veggie or All the Meats, there’s a variety of toppings to choose from, including traditional favorites like

pepperoni and mushrooms to more eclectic choices like meatballs, eggplant, or artichoke hearts. And Ray understands that while most kids love pizza, some do have diet restrictions. “Pepperoni’s happily accommodates our gluten-free guests by offering a gluten-free crust, as well as vegan cheese upon request. Everyone should get to enjoy great pizza!” Pepperoni’s also offers subs, salads, pastas, calzones, wings and desserts. The first location was such a great success that today there are 16 Pepperoni’s locations. Ray also owns critically acclaimed Bollo Woodfired pizza in Upper Kirby. Ray says, “Whether you gather with friends and family for a casual meal, a fine dining experience, or order out for pizza...you deserve fresh, highquality ingredients. It’s delicious food you’ll feel good about eating. Only the best was good enough for my boys...and only the best will do for you and your family too!”

Thanksgiving:

The Most

Plumber-ful Time D

of the Year

id you know that the days leading up to Thanksgiving are some of the busiest days of the year for plumbers? Luke Burkhalter, Master Plumber at local Alan’s Plumbing, says, “In anticipation of the holiday, people are cleaning out their fridge and jamming everything down the disposal. Trust me, no one wants a kitchen clog...especially when you have company over! But there are some preventive measures you can take to avoid clogging that disposal.” “After major use,” continues Luke, “you should flush your garbage disposal. To do this, simply fill the sink with warm to hot water, pull the plug, and turn on the disposal...flushing everything out of it. Another good way to clean the disposal is to pour ice cubes down it and turn it on. The ice shards will effectively scour all the hard to reach areas of the unit, and then melt down the drain. Super easy.” With company in town, it’s not just your kitchen pipes that are working overtime... it’s all of them. “We see lots of main line

clogs this time of year too,” says Luke. “A gurgling toilet, or gurgling anywhere, is a sign of a stoppage in the main line. You need to call a plumber when this happens. If you have sewer backing up into a tub or shower, or if there’s flooding around the toilet base, you can relieve the pressure by locating the squaretopped, white, PVC clean out cap outside of your home. Opening the cap will relieve the pressure and move the water outside until your plumber arrives and can snake the line. It’s a lot better to have the water outside than inside! If you don’t know where your clean out cap is located, give us a call. We’ll help you find it.” Alan’s Plumbing was founded nearly three decades ago by Luke’s dad, Master Plumber Alan Burkhalter. Luke’s uncle, Chris Burkhalter, is also a Master Plumber. Luke’s brother Beau is journeyman-licensed and studying for his master plumber license. His brother Jake is an apprentice close to his journeyman

by Amy Sharp license. The boys’ mom Jennifer, Luke’s wife Chelsea, and Katie Johnson answer the phones. The team’s extended family includes journeyman-licensed plumbers Jeff Johnson and Jaime, and tradesman-licensed Trevor. “Preventive maintenance is the key to avoiding a kitchen clog,” says Luke. “Remember, give your disposal a good flush after major use, and never pour in oils or drippings from your holiday cooking. Poultry skins, eggshells, carrots, celery, pumpkin pulp, potato skins, banana peels, and pasta can also cause backups. Use a garbage bag instead. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Alan’s Plumbing!”

Legendary Lineage by Amy Sharp

El Tiempo Cantina’s

Executive Chef Domenic Laurenzo’s family has been in food service for more than 40 years. His grandmother, Ninfa Laurenzo, was the founder and namesake of the famous Ninfa’s restaurant. “My grandmother grew up in Harlingen. She met my grandfather, Italian-born Domenic Thomas Laurenzo, while visiting Providence, RI. They literally flipped a coin to decide if they would live in Texas or Rhode Island.” And with luck on Mama Ninfa’s side, the Laurenzo family would begin their legendary journey. In 1959, the couple opened the Rio Grande Tortilla Factory in Houston’s Second Ward. But this love story is marred in tragedy. In 1969, Domenic’s grandfather died suddenly. “My grandmother had five children she needed to support. In 1973, she converted the tortilla factory to a five-table restaurant... the place that today is known as the Original Ninfa’s on Navigation.” By their third year, sheer word of mouth made Ninfa’s a popular downtown spot. Mama Ninfa’s concept continued to grow throughout the eighties, the era when “Tex Mex” was born. In fact, Mama Ninfa is credited for introducing the word “fajita” into American culinary lexicon! El Tiempo Cantina found its way to Houston in 1998 when Mama Ninfa’s oldest grandson Domenic and her son Roland opened the original location on Richmond. (By this time, the Laurenzo family was no longer involved in the Ninfa’s enterprise.) Domenic says, “We credit the name, El Tiempo, to my cousin Antonio Martinez from Monterrey. My Dad was visiting Mexico, securing items for our new restaurant’s atmosphere. In an amazing act of God, Antonio said we should call it El Tiempo. It means ‘The Time.’ And time is of the essence...the frame of reference for every human being. At El Tiempo, portraits of my family members, including my grandmother, line the walls in a tribute to our history and culture. We invite you to our home to truly pass the time...reminisce about the past, enjoy the present, plan your future.” When you walk through the doors of El Tiempo’s Stafford location, you’re immediately taken to a “time” of relaxation and great food—all made from scratch with the best ingredients available. “Eating is one of the joys of life,” says Domenic. “There’s no way we would do that half-heartedly.”

And from the Mixed Grill—a bit of everything cooked on a wood burning mesquite grill—to the famous El Tiempo margarita, Domenic has created delicious combinations that area Tex Mex lovers can’t get enough of. “We’re constantly working on the food, coming up with new and innovative ideas that we know you’ll love!” Ready to pass the time with family and

friends while enjoying authentic Tex Mex straight from the lineage of Mama Ninfa? Drop in to El Tiempo Cantina. It’s the best Tex Mex dining experience you’ll ever have!

A KW Southwest Experience

Edward and Jessie Wu’s Story

I

n 2019, Edward and Jessie Wu were living in Taiwan. Edward says, “We knew we would be moving back in 2020. We contacted Keller Williams Southwest (KWSW) agent Sandra Tan Tsui to help us purchase our first home. Sandra is a family friend.” The Wus were focused on Katy. “For a year,” says Edward, “Sandra constantly sent us houses to look at. I’m extremely picky. I would reject houses and tell Sandra what I didn’t like. She never got impatient with me, and the persistence helped refine our search to zero in on what we wanted. Several times, I apologized to Sandra because I felt I was wasting her time. I admit...I can be difficult. But Sandra always responded that finding the right house is her job. She is very friendly and easy to talk to.” “Sandra really pushed us to consider Sugar KW Agent Land as well as Katy,” continues Edward. “I Sandra Tan Tsui

really wasn’t familiar with either area, but I was pretty set on Katy. Sandra thought the conveniences of Sugar Land might be better for my family. We agreed to explore both once we were back in the United States.” “In the end,” says Edward, “Sandra was right about a lot of things. We found the perfect home at the perfect location in Sugar Land. Several other people were also checking out the house, and we were afraid we would not get it. Sandra was on top of it. She stayed in contact with the other agent, and got the deal done. There were no issues, and we were able to close pretty quickly. The transaction was very smooth. All the pickiness paid off. We love this home! I absolutely recommend Sandra. She is professional, punctual, a great communicator, and she gets the job done.”

rowns, enamel, roots, dentin, cementum, and pulp. Your teeth offer many layers of protection for your smile. We asked local dentist, Dr. Thomas Lomonte, to tell us a little bit about what lies beneath our pearly whites! “The part you see when you smile is the crown of the tooth,” explains Dr. Lomonte. “It only makes up about a third of your actual tooth. The enamel is also visible to anyone that looks at your smile. It’s typically shiny and white. The roots of your teeth lie below the gum line. They work to stimulate blood flow and keep your jawbone strong. The dentin layer of a tooth is a bony material that supports the tooth enamel and carries some of the nerve fibers. When this layer is exposed, your teeth will become extremely sensitive. The cementum is the tooth root’s surface layer. It attaches to both your jawbone and gums. DENTAL Health: Pro Tips for Parents

Is Your Child Happy To Go To The Dentist? by Amy Sharp

A

ngie Jimenez was traumatized by the dentist as a child. “Even now,” says Angie, “I’m a difficult patient to get into the chair. I went into the dentistry field because I did not want the same for other people or for my children. I’m the office manager and a dental assistant for a family practice dentist. For children who are timid and afraid, we refer to Dr. Faisal Khan at Grand Parkway Pediatric Dental. My daughter, Natalia, is one of those children.” Natalia started seeing Dr. Khan when she was four years old. Today, she’s 12. Angie says, “The very first time I met Dr. Khan, his personality caught my attention. He’s very happy, friendly, and young at heart...things that are important in pediatric dentistry. He’s also very personable, and that’s life-changing. Nothing at his office is clinical, and it’s never hurry in and hurry out. When Natalia was five, she needed some fillings done. We decided to do them in a hospital setting,

under anesthesia. This is not an option at all pediatric dentists, but it’s one that Dr. Khan offers. Dr. Khan was the last person Natalia saw before she went to sleep, and the first person she saw when she woke up. She still remembers that, and she still tells her friends how much she loves her dentist.” “I without a doubt recommend Grand Parkway Pediatric Dental,” continues Angie. “From the very first visit, Dr. Khan and his staff instill positivity, making it a good experience. Natalia always goes to the dentist happily, she even looks forward to it. I’ve referred kids to Dr. Khan from as far away as Pearland, Cypress, and Seabrook. It’s worth the drive to their parents. It’s no surprise that Dr. Khan’s practice and staff have grown in the years that Natalia has been seeing him! I tell anyone and everyone about Grand Parkway Pediatric Dental!”

ounder of local Balanced Body Functional Medicine, Dr. Julia Ward, spent two decades as a primary care physician. Dr. Ward says, “What I learned is, our healthcare system leaves many of us feeling like we’re trapped in our own bodies. Some feel helpless and lost, like there’s no clear-cut answer on anything. Others feel they’re trapped. I realized my patients needed more holistic, more personalized, and more attentive care as they aged. Many of their health complaints were rooted in hormonal imbalances, inflammatory diets, poor intestinal health, environmental toxicity, and lifestyle-related problems.” Dr. Ward left traditional medicine more than five years ago to launch Balanced Body Functional Medicine. She’s never looked back! “Here at Balanced Body Functional Medicine, I take a ‘whole person’ approach to my patients,” explains Dr. Ward. “What that means is...doing a deep dive into underlying causes, not just treating symptoms. Through a series of tests not typically administered in traditional medicine, I can create a curriculum just for you to achieve optimal health. Micronutrient testing, expanded lipid profile, a stool analysis to determine bacteria in the gut, checking inflammation, looking at cortisol levels to determine stress, and hormone replacement are some of the big ones.” And the people have responded. Last month, Dr. Ward expanded her practice into a beautiful, larger clinic to allow even more treatment options for her patients. “We’re excited to have a lab on-site and multiple consulting rooms for our patients. We now have a room dedicated to ozone therapy, and two private rooms for hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). Oxygen is one of the most effective therapies available for a wide array of conditions. Oxygen and ozone (a form of oxygen) stimulate the immune system, reduce inflammation, and help our cells use oxygen with the most efficiency. It’s extremely safe.” “With this expansion, I feel like we have a recipe to fix just about anyone,” continues Dr. Ward. “One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing the quantifiable results in my patients and hearing them report how mentally, physically and psychologically great they feel.” The first step to reaching optimal health is a consultation. stablished in 2016, Hope Fort Bend Clubhouse is a hidden jewel that provides hope for those in our community living with a mental health condition. Program Director Michelle Lovelace says, “We provide hope for the individual, their family and friends, and their professional support teams.” Following the Clubhouse Model of psychosocial rehabilitation, at Hope Fort Bend Clubhouse the members choose how they want to utilize the Clubhouse. Michelle says, “The needs of the Clubhouse are posted on a board. Members choose what they want to make happen. From financials, membership, and marketing to cooking lunches, landscaping and building improvement, everything here is led and run by the members. This is a place where individuals can feel appreciated and productive...back to being themselves. It’s not clinical. Our voluntary members are peers and colleagues that come and go as they please. The result? Bonds are created and members experience a true sense of community.” Clubhouse members receive peer support from someone who’s been there. “What better community than to sit with someone with whom you can identify,” explains Michelle. “There’s no stigma, the person helping you has walked in your shoes.” The Clubhouse partners with several agencies and provides access to crisis intervention services. Members are supported in returning to paid work through transitional, supportive, and independent employment programs with access to transportation and safe housing. The Clubhouse hosts member social events throughout the year and is open all holidays. Linda is a Clubhouse success story. Linda came to the Clubhouse when she became extremely depressed and found herself not very productive at home. Linda says, “The founder, Pat Sumner, got me here. I figured if I hated it, I could just leave.” When Linda first arrived, her depression and anxiety only allowed her to color cards. Within a week, she was entering data in membership spreadsheets. Today, she’s a key navigator for Clubhouse peers, helping members obtain SSI, food 18 ~ UPCLOSE ~ November 2021

stamps, access to food banks and more. Linda works part-time for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), a position she obtained through contacts at the Clubhouse. She still volunteers at the Clubhouse because she loves it, it’s her family. “We find all sorts of hidden talents!” says Michelle. “We have 321 members, and about 85 are active right now. On average, we see about 11 members a day. If we haven’t seen someone in awhile, we reach out to see how they’re doing. We stay connected in every way possible.” Know someone who could benefit from Hope Fort Bend Clubhouse membership? The first step is to call and schedule a tour. “Our Clubhouse family would love to meet you!” says Michelle. Do You Even Need a Financial Advisor?

H

by Amy Sharp

ow often have you asked yourself this question: How do you know if your needs warrant the service and cost associated with a financial advisor? Andy Sharp, President and CEO of local Altere Financial, LLC, says, “Engaging an advisor to help you determine if you actually need an advisor is not a good strategy. Budgeting firms like Mint.com allow you to access several tools and calculators free of charge. In my initial conversations with prospects, I always give guidance on where an individual can do all of their financial planning and investments for a reasonably low cost or without incurring excessive fees. If, after the conversation, the person feels it’s more convenient for an advisor to assist with their consolidation and budgeting, they at least have a better idea of the value of service I provide.” If you’ve decided you need an advisor, it’s important to understand how that advisor is compensated. “Many advisors will tell you they can help you address your needs,” continues Andy. “In reality, they may require you to invest or purchase a product through them or their firm first before they provide any advice. This can present a conflict: The quality of advice may be determined by the revenue generated from

your account. In my opinion, it may be better to hire an advisor that can provide planning on an hourly or flat-fee basis. The advisor can analyze your current situation, create goals, and recommend strategies to meet those goals. I believe paying for ongoing management or an insurance product should only be initiated after the planning is complete.” But should you pay for ongoing advice? “This is a personal preference,” explains Andy. “Once you have a plan in place, a good advisor can provide access to many solutions through their firm to help see your plan through to the end. They can help with investment allocation and management, provide access to various insurance vehicles, and introduce you to trusted professional contacts to provide other services (like tax filing and drafting of wills and trusts). Ask yourself this: Do you trust yourself to avoid the common pitfalls that many can experience when it comes to managing your own personal wealth and finances? You might also feel you need a trusted professional to work directly with you as your financial situation becomes more complex, such as an increasing tax bracket, increasing income, potential capital gains, etc.”

A professional who labels themselves as a financial advisor can provide many services with varying degrees of products, specializations and fees. Deciding if you even need one, and if so, who it should be is critical to realizing your best outcomes. Still unsure? Andy is always happy to answer your questions!

Hormones for the by Amy Sharp

Holidays

O

has

ur hormones naturally cycle and decrease as we age. They’re always working to cope with our natural physical changes. So it’s no surprise that as the holidays approach, this cycle remains the same. Your hormones will not be taking a holiday! Dr. Lance Campbell, Pharm.D., R.Ph., founder of local Campbell’s Compounding Pharmacy, says, “This period of change for women is commonly known as perimenopause and menopause. During this time, women experience typical symptoms of declining hormone levels that include hot flashes, trouble sleeping, and fatigue. They may also note memory fog and a decline in sexual desire. Stressful times can further aggravate these symptoms of hormonal deficiency.” “Through all-natural, customized bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), your hormones can be adjusted to the level you enjoyed at a younger age!” continues Dr. Campbell. “Here at Campbell’s Compounding Pharmacy, our progesterone, testosterone, and estrogen are all plant-based; they’re made from yams, and they mimic the molecular structure in your body. Through compounding, we control both how the medication containing the hormones is delivered to your system and its dosage. This is truly customized medicine. BHRT not only prevents hot flashes and insomnia during menopause, but it may also reduce the risk for heart disease, osteoporosis, memory changes, vaginal atrophy, and urinary incontinence. Ultimately, BHRT can help you feel like yourself again...just in time for the holidays!” If you’re experiencing the troublesome symptoms of menopause, give Campbell’s Compounding Pharmacy a call. Dr. Campbell says, “We’ll schedule a personal consultation to learn more about your needs, and we can discuss your options. If you just have a few questions, we’re happy to answer those as well. From our family to yours, have a very Happy Thanksgiving!”

HEALTH MATTERS WITH DRS. STEVE HARRIS AND ZACK BRAZZELL, DOCTORS OF CHIROPRACTIC WHERE PAIN RELIEF COMES NATURALLY

FROM PAIN LEVEL 10 TO A 1!

S

everal years ago, Kim Kessler fell while bowling. “I couldn’t get out of bed,” says Kim. “I went to the doctor, and lower back x-rays showed I had deterioration in some discs. He wanted to give me pain pills. I was not happy with that. I also knew I didn’t want surgery. I had a girlfriend that already had two back surgeries and was still in pain and considering another. I had not considered a chiropractor before, but I was desperate. I did my research on the internet, searching for the chiropractor that people were most happy with. That search led me to Dr. Steve Harris at Sugar Land Health Center.” Dr. Harris opened Sugar Land Health Center in 1982. In the summer of 2019, he welcomed his son-in-law, Dr. Zack Brazzell, to the practice. Together, they offer a wide variety of chiropractic care modalities and associated therapies to help people with pain find relief and improve their overall health. Through his 40 plus years as a chiropractor, Dr. Harris has developed his own methods and treatments for every layer of the body to promote healing. Kim says, “Dr. Harris did x-rays of my whole spine, not just my lower back. He discovered deterioration in my cervical and lower lumbar, and my spine was curved. I was in terrible shape. Dr. Harris came up with a treatment plan to get me up out of bed and going up and down stairs again. It included laser treatments, decompression, and adjustments. When I first went in, my pain level was a 10 out of 10...and I take pain well! Today, it’s down around 1 or 2. Now, I go back to Sugar Land Health Center for maintenance visits with either Dr. Harris or Dr. Brazzell.” “I recommend Sugar Land Health Center to others quite often,” continues Kim. “Yesterday at the grocery store, I gave his card to a lady complaining about back pain. My girlfriend that had the two back surgeries now sees Drs. Harris and Brazzell as Dr. Steve Harris and the newest member of SLHC, Dr. Zack Brazzell
