[ F A F S A .ED.GO V ] The FAFSA opens online October 1. The first step in applying for financial aid is to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Apply early to maximize the amount of aid you can receive. UNO’s school code 002554.

Apply for scholarships [ FIN A NCI A L A ID.UNOM A H A .EDU ] Hundreds of scholarships based on merit and/or financial need are available to first-year, transfer, and returning students.

• UNO departments and college scholarships have special eligibility criteria and varying application dates are available. Need-based scholarships require completion of the FAFSA. • Graduating high school seniors will automatically be considered for some of our base first-year student scholarships by applying to UNO by February 1 of your senior year. This does not apply to transfer students. All students should complete the scholarship applications for full consideration.

To apply for UNO scholarships, complete the UNO General Scholarship application.

The link is available on Financial Aid tab in MavLINK by early September.

Apply for on-campus housing [ HOU SING.UNOM A H A .EDU ] Housing applications open on November 1. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to secure a spot in one of our six residence hall complexes.

Your NetID was assigned to you when you were admitted. It is a username and password specific to UNO and is used to log into UNO online services, schedule placement exams, and register for orientation.

After being admitted, first-year and transfer students will receive information from the Testing Center about placement tests.

Watch for an email with the subject “Being Online at UNO” which gives you your unique NetID and UNO email information.

Check MavLINK to determine which placement tests you are required to take.

Submit your health forms/immunization records As a new student, you must provide official documentation of immunizations and complete a Pre-Enrollment Health Requirement form.

Using your NUID and password to pay your $100 enrollment deposit to secure your place at UNO. Pay your enrollment deposit through MavLINK.

• It is recommended to take placement exams two weeks prior to enrollment.

Register for orientation All incoming students must fulfill an orientation requirement in order to enroll in classes at UNO. Classes are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so students are encouraged to complete orientation as early as possible.

Send final transcripts If you are currently enrolled at a high school or college, or have just graduated from high school, you are required to have your official final transcript sent to the following address after you have finished your final courses.

You’ll receive an email notification when the registration for orientation is open. Follow the instructions sent to you to learn how to sign up and complete orientation.

For students admitted for spring, registration opens in October.

Registration for orientation occurs via MavLINK.

Immunization records can be uploaded under the “Profile Tab” in MavLINK.

A LY S S A SP A R T Z College of Public Affairs and Community Service Alyssa came to UNO from Hastings, Nebraska. She chose UNO for it’s connections to the city and to get a meaningful educational experience.

“I love UNO because of the wide variety of experiences and opportunities that are available for students to be a part of,” she said. “By volunteering, taking service learning courses, and participating in internships I was able to develop tremendously on a personal and professional level.”
