STRENGTHS OPPORTUNITIES

SHRI Research Faculty are highly networked within the state and the US to lead Latinx scholarship locally and nationally.

SHRI is positioned to serve as a supportive, academic, conceptual unit for the Latinx community on and off campus.

SHRI, working with CCS, can help UNM achieve its mission within the state and nationally.

SHRI is currently, largely supported by OVPR funds. Although research faculty generate significant sponsored research, SHRI does not benefit due to the incentive structure of F&A distribution among OVPR, Colleges and Departments.

SHRI, with staff at 0.5 FTE, lacks critical administrative support to grow

WEAKNESSES

Funding: increase collaborative inter-disciplinary projects, develop and identify new sources of funding from foundations, state, and federal funding.

SHRI needs to be able to provide more support: Challenges submitting and managing grants

Building critical mass when SHRI faculty are dispersed one-by-one across campus
