ABOUT THE FACULTY
The University of Szeged is the best Hungarian University according to the 2023 QS World University Ranking – with a prestigious overall position of 551-560. The University and the Faculty of Dentistry provide high-quality learning environment for students, with a great emphasis on practical training. The Faculty of Dentistry is an exceptional centre for education, scientific work and patient care, located in the heart of the city of Szeged. The Faculty offers an EU-compatible educational programme, its curriculum being harmonized with the European dental professional training standards. Also, the program follows the guidelines of the ADEE’s „Profile and Competences for the European Dentist”. The University applies the ECTS credit system which is used in the European Union and in many other countries. PROGRAMMES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD): The undivided Master’s degree in dentistry in English language provides a five-year (10 semesters) EU-compatible educational program designed in a modular fashion (basic, preclinical and clinical module). Throughout the basic module – the first two years - students are taught basic sciences, all the while starting to meet patients during their summer practice. The preclinical module – the third year - prepares students for the clinical patient care by focusing on mastering the manual skills that will be applied later on. The clinical module – the last two years of the programme – is dedicated to the intensive clinical study of each of the various disciplines of dentistry, where students treat real patients under close supervision of their tutors. The preclinical module in the 3rd year prepares students for the clinical patient care by focusing on mastering the manual skills, that will be applied later on in the clinical module. After the third year more emphasis is placed on the study of dental diseases and their clinical treatment. The last two years – clinical module – serve the intensive clinical study of each of the various disciplines of dentistry, where students treat real patients under close supervision of their tutors.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS To apply for a full-time English language Health Science program at the University of Szeged, you need to complete the online registration at https://apply.u-szeged.hu • Applicants are required to be over the age of 18 in the year of application. • Applications are accepted from graduates of accredited high schools or colleges/universities. • Applicants are required to sit for an entrance examination. (Biology, Chemistry and English language). SERVICES OF THE FACULTY FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The Foreign Students’ Support Assistant of the Dean’s Office at the Faculty of Dentistry helps foreign students with all their non-academic questions, problems and concerns in everyday life, in order to help them manage their matters during their stay in Szeged. Aside from attending lectures and laboratory classes, time outside the classroom offers a wide range of exciting events for the students. Student residence is provided to those international students who hold a governmental scholarship, such as the Stipendium Hungaricum. Those who rent an apartment may use the online university database or the Facebook page dedicated to apartments to rent.
