WHAT WILL I STUDY? / Data Handling Develop your skills for the application of statistical and mathematical methods as you use Information Technology to effectively present and communicate data. / Professional Communications Acquire life-long skills as you explore techniques for self-assessment and reflection whilst improving your written and verbal communication skills. / Biological Principles Explore the characteristics of plant and animal cells which are the building blocks of all life forms. / Scientific Methods Improve your biological and chemical laboratory skills; practise environmental and fieldwork techniques; and apply scientific knowledge to the interpretation of results.

CHOOSE TWO OF THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS: / Chemical Principles Understand the significance of the structure of atoms, their classification in the periodic table, chemical reactions and bonding, and the importance of pH. / Science for Health Evaluate a range of environmental and scientific factors that interact to influence health and consider examples of interventions and clinical trials. / Earth Processes Examine the interactions of earth processes, geological structures and environmental functions, the use of resources and consider the differential impacts of geological hazards. / Environmental Conservation Comprehend the key ecological concepts, explore biogeography, appraise conservation techniques and consider priorities and issues of managing habitats and wildlife.

WHAT’S IT LIKE TO STUDY HUMAN AND NATURAL SCIENCES AT SALFORD? / Field Trips The majority of our students studying for a degree in the human and natural sciences at Salford are able to participate in an array of field trips across the world – all dependent upon your chosen pathway.

From visits to the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales and Dale (Wales) to residential field courses in Scandinavia, the Tropics and Kavala, Greece, our students are able to develop their practical skills, gaining real-world context for their theoretical work.
