Our residences might look like halls but we offer so much more.

We understand that student accommodation is not just about the room it’s about all the other stuff too.

Where do you go when you need those all-important study groups?

What about that film night you’ve been meaning to plan for ages or just those evenings when you want to chill with your friends? We try to cater for everyone.

Within all our halls are the Halls’ Student Experience Team, a team of Residential Advisors and Hall Student Committees that all play a part in maintaining and enhancing your experience in your halls.

Its’ their role to arrange social activities to help you get to know those living in your hall. It is often those initial friendships you make that stay with you throughout your time at university, and long after you've left.

City Centre Bike Tour

EACH HALL HAS ITS OWN HSC AND THIS IS OPEN TO ALL RESIDENTS FROM THAT HALL IF THEY WISH TO JOIN AS A GENERAL MEMBER.

YOUR HALLS STUDENT COMMITTEE (HSC)

Each Hall has a Hall Student Committee (HSC) made up of elected students from the Hall.

Elections take place at the start of the academic year.

The HSC represents the students of the Hall, acting as their voice to Halls Management. They also organise social activities and events for the Hall using a pot of money made up of contributions from each resident’s rent.

The events and activities they organise range from smaller events like film nights, to large scale events like the Christmas and Summer Balls, to trips for the Hall. They also buy items for the Hall such as games consoles and sports equipment.

PAST EVENTS HAVE INCLUDED:

Winter Wonderland Christmas Ball Summer Boat Party Carnifest – music and outdoor games Trips to Alton Towers, Farmageddon, Trafford Centre Children in Need and Comic Relief events LGBT awareness week Film nights with pizza and popcorn Bonfire night trips with hot chocolate and toffee apples Postgraduate meet and greet event Chinese New Year parties
