USW Treforest is in the heart of the South Wales Valleys, with beautiful scenery and rolling landscape.

Treforest, Glyntaff and USW Sport Park make up our Pontypridd Campus, and are all within easy reach of each other. Students benefit from regular shuttle buses between the sites.

Our Computing and ICT courses are ideal for students who want to develop the essential practical skills that you’ll need for a long and varied career in the IT industry.

At this Open Day event you’ll get a chance to see how technology is used to solve real-world problems and get creative with some our Raspberry Pi-powered kit, as you explore one of the key themes of our courses: the Internet of Things. You’ll also get to meet our staff and see our modern computer labs as you learn more about what Informatics at USW has to offer.

Join us for an insight into the world of Childhood Development at USW. Here you will learn about the courses that we have on offer, how you will experience your teaching and assessments at USW, and the vast knowledge and experience of our teaching team. You will be shown our dedicated Neuroscience Laboratory and EEG/Sleep Lab and you will be able to engage in mini sessions dedicated to showing how you will use these facilities as a student at USW. You will also learn more about our additional free courses and volunteer opportunities through our Psychology Plus Programme and be introduced to the opportunity to take three placements with the children in our on-campus Behaviour Analysis Clinic. You will also be able to learn about the wider student support network available to you, see your student lounge and hear about some of our amazing exploits such as the Psychology Ball, the Christmas Party, and the February Writing Retreat. TOP FACTS ABOUT PONTYPRIDD

Treforest is the home town of legendary Welsh singer, Tom Jones.

The area around Pontypridd has been named one of the best star-gazing sites in the UK.

The Welsh national anthem, Mae Hen Wlad fy Nhadau, was composed in Pontypridd.

Pontypridd is home to the National Lido of Wales – built in 1927 and recently restored to its full glory.

The Old Bridge after which the town is named is iconic. It’s now over 250 years old and the arch is longer and higher over the water than even the Rialto in Venice.
