Novos ares no negócio A Unilever Brasil está empreendendo uma importante contribuição ambiental, alinhando-se ao conceito global, no tocante ao consumo de gases refrigerantes na cadeia de sorvetes. Esses gases são utilizados em nossas conservadoras (freezers), totalizando aproximadamente 122 mil unidades espalhadas por todo o território nacional.
Atendendo às questões relacionadas ao Protocolo de Montreal, de 1999, os gases R12 e R22 foram substituídos por gases inofensivos à camada de ozônio: R134A (HCFC) para equipamentos horizontais e R404 (HCFC) para os verticais. Porém, preocupada com o aquecimento global, a Unilever decidiu pela substituição desses
gases pelo R290, um gás ecológico que não agride a camada de ozônio e não contribui com o efeito estufa. Essa substituição será gradual, durante a renovação natural do parque; em 2007, 11,3 mil conservadoras foram adquiridas com o novo gás.
Proteção da biodiversidade Para definir a melhor localização de nossas fábricas e escritórios, diversos fatores são considerados para que nenhuma unidade se situe em áreas que ofereçam riscos imediatos à preservação da biodiversidade da região.
New blow to business Unilever Brazil is providing an important environmental contribution, aligned to the global concept regarding the consumption of refrigerant gases in the ice-cream chain. The gases are used in our freezers, totaling about 122 thousand units all over the Brazilian territory. In response to the issues related to the Montreal Protocol, in 1999 the R12 and R22 gases were replaced by gases that do not deplete the ozone layer: R134A (HCFC) to horizontal equipment and R404 (HCFC) to the vertical ones. Concerned about global warming, Unilever decided to replace those gases for the R290 – an ecological gas that causes no damage to the ozone layer and does not contribute to the greenhouse effect. This will be a gradual replacement, during the natural renewal of the park. In 2007, 11.3 thousand freezers were purchased, with the new gas. Protection to biodiversity Several factors are considered when defining the best site for our plants and offices, so that no unit is installed in areas of immediate risk to the region’s biodiversity preservation.
