Master’s Degree in Philosophy The aim of the Master’s in Philosophical Knowledge: Foundations, Methods, Applications is to respond to the current changes in the cultural paradigm, offering an enrichment of theoretical knowledge, conceptual methods and argumentative tools with which to operate effectively in a variety of active contexts and at various levels of analysis.

Master’s Degree in Philosophy The ambition of the degree course is to achieve this objective within a European context. The aspiration is to offer a university career that responds to the public demand for knowledge that has a global dimension and that calls for tools and methods of conceptualisation that will be effective in moulding keys for understanding and for intervening on the problems of immediate ethical, political, economic and social impact.

Specific formative aims Graduates of the Master’s degree in this class must have acquired: • • • • • •

a developed analytic and logical-argumentative competence; a sure grasp of the use of the theoretical and methodological tools; a sure ability in analysing and discussing theories and models of rationality; a deep understanding of the philosophical traditions; competences in interpreting and evaluating; a firm ability to provide historical-critical analysis of the basic philosophical concepts; • a deep knowledge of the theoretical and methodological instruments employed in philosophical studies; • a sufficient knowledge of English to enable the composition of publishable texts within the discipline; • an advanced knowledge of at least one other language of the European Union.

What distinguishes this course What sets the present proposal apart from the existing courses is that it will be conducted in English. In addition to attracting students from other European nations, the advantages envisioned by this choice are not only that a wider and more up-to-date range of literature (especially in the more technical disciplines) may be proposed to students, but also that graduates will be prepared to take advantage of options both in the world of work and in further study in other countries where English has become a recognised second language. The didactic structure of the course, with classes and seminars, will make use of written exercises and oral presentations, as well as of brief but frequent exercises. These teaching practices will make ample room for the elaboration of texts prior to the final dissertation, with a view to developing and monitoring the communicative and argumentative skills that the course intends to promote.
