The Dhillon experience
Hands down, our hands-on experiences will prepare you for the business world
At Dhillon, diverse perspectives and experiences will result in an enriched and life-changing post-secondary experience. The majority of our students participate in one of our many professionally linked programs because they better prepare you for the business world after graduation. Often, handson learning opportunities are built right into the courses, including short-term projects, case studies, field visits and projects with the community and with organizations. You'll also have the opportunity to learn about the diverse communities and perspectives around us. The following are other opportunities that will get you valuable real-world experience and expand your perspectives before you graduate.
“My favourite courses were any Indigenous knowledge-based courses like Introduction to Indigenous Studies, Indigenous Governance and Indigenous Peoples and Law. I enjoy learning about my culture and the current status of the Indigenous population of Canada.”
Nathan Crow | BMgt ’24
Indigenous core component
All Dhillon School of Business undergraduate students take an Indigenous course as part of their core business course requirements. Whether you take Canadian Indigenous Negotiations, Indigenous Peoples and Natural Resources or another course, the knowledge you’ll gain will position you as a more Indigenous informed business professional, critical to the future success of Canada’s business landscape and economic reconciliation.
International exchanges
Whether you want to experience another culture, satisfy the desire for adventure or learn self-reliance, an international exchange will do just that. International exchanges allow you to participate in full-semester or summer exchanges at more than 46 partner universities worldwide from the Americas to Europe and Asia to Australia.
Co-operative Education through Career Bridge
Co-operative Education (Co-op) is a work-integrated learning program that connects you with paid employment for four, eight, or 12-month full-time work terms through the University of Lethbridge’s Career Bridge office. The Co-op program is open to any and all eligible students regardless of degree or major (something you likely won’t find elsewhere). Test drive a career or organization of interest, apply theories you’ve learned in the classroom while earning money, gain confidence and develop your professional and personal skillset. You’ll also have access to one-on-one career coaching, including resume and cover letter review, interview preparation and access to the career job board.
“The
University of Lethbridge is a big advocate for experiential learning and I truly believe it makes all the difference. My favourite experience by far has been the internships and co-ops I took part in. These experiences really helped to provide a realistic view of what the industry really looks like. I have been fortunate enough to participate in applied experiences on both the finance and computer science side of my degree. I have gained transferable skills, practical knowledge and the opportunity to build my network throughout these experiences.”
Muskaan
Gauri | BSc/BMgt Co-op ‘22
