In general, the Kick-Off Meeting should address the following topics (as applicable):
• Project overview (scope, objectives, timeline, etc.)
• Award terms and conditions
• Budget review and award fiscal management
o General: Principles for determining allowable costs (e.g., reasonable, allocable, consistent treatment, conform to any limitations) vs unallowable costs
o Specific: F&A, hiring processes/salary allocations, tuition, procurement, subcontracts, compensation to research subjects, buy- outs, etc.
o Reconciliation/Certification procedures
• Reporting requirements and delegation of responsibilities for reporting
• Routine review plans, including scheduling monthly PI Meeting
• Purchasing equipment
• Attendee roles and responsibilities
• Responsible Conduct of Research reminders
• Other award-specific topics
• Next steps and action items
