It started with a desire to use what I had learnt and experienced to help others...

... and in 2009, after thirty-five years in corporate life I decided it was time for a change. I wanted to create something tangible, that was worthwhile and unlike many corporate bodies who say it, I wanted my business to truly put the customer at the heart of everything we do. My passion for developing staff through coaching and mentoring and the satisfaction I received from helping business owners in my previous roles led me to conclude that business mentoring was the route for me. I quickly found that all my years in leadership and management roles and the training and experience throughout my career, had really well equipped me to help and add value to business owners.

In 2024 we were delighted to receive a ‘5 Star Franchisee Satisfaction’ award as well as awards for ‘Best Business to Business Franchise’ and ‘Best Business Owner Support Provider’. We were also recognised as a finalist in The Best New Franchise category. Additionally, we take pride in being members of the British Franchise Association.

Our values are that our Mentors will always act with integrity and honesty, act professionally, respect confidentiality and always seek to add value to every client and their business.

In selecting new franchisees, the most important elements to me are do our values align and do they truly get satisfaction from helping others to develop and succeed? In the business world a business mentor is someone who advises, guides, challenges, coaches, and develops a business owner, to ultimately help them achieve their business goals. That may be, growing the business/increasing profits, helping them manage their team more effectively, advise on the structure and future strategy of the business. It is someone who a business owner can defer to for a second independent opinion and who looks at issues with a fresh but experienced pair of eyes. In essence you become the right hand man/woman to the business owner.

What is a Business Mentor?

Without doubt the most important thing a mentor does, not cosmetic listening but deep listening, listening to understand not to reply.

Asking the right, typically open questions to get to the heart of the matter, so you fully understand the client’s issue or point of view.

The ability to understand the other persons point of view, even if you don’t agree with it.

Leadership

Your proven skills in both managing and leading people will equip you to develop business owners and enable them to get the best out of their teams.

Positive and Energetic

A mentor needs a ' can do' positive approach and must be energetic and able to energise others.

Business Experience

Without doubt a key element that you will bring to the role. Your years of experience across a range of areas from sales and marketing, systems and processes, financials and key performance indicators. All of these principles are key to how we support and help our clients.

At UKBM we pride ourselves on the training and support we give to our new franchisees. We aim to make you ‘match ready’ for business on day one following your training.

Your training consists of:

Five classroom days covering all aspects of starting up and operating as a Business Mentor

Full briefing on how to use all our intellectual property materials

Coaching in using and presenting our exclusive ‘Your Business Model’

A session focussed solely around increasing a business’s bottom line net profit

One day on how to market yourself and maximise the data covering thousands of businesses we provide as part of your package

How to use social media to generate leads

There will also be personal development as part of your training including videos and books

Your own mentor for the first twelve months to support and guide you to success

How to present our famed ‘Business Growth' Seminars and Webinars

Working with and generating a secondary income from our partners

An external personal coach to develop your coaching skills

The Costs

Franchise fee

An initial franchise fee of £27,500 + VAT (reclaimable) payable prior to training

Monthly management fees

First six months following training - NIL

6 - 12 months following training 10% of monthly net invoiced income minimum

£500 + VAT (max £1,250 + )

No other fees or marketing levies

No deductions from partnership commissions earned

Anticipated earnings are as follows (net of VAT):

Year one £45,000

Year two £90,000

Year three £150,000+

We fully expect franchisees to recoup their initial outlay well within the first year of operating.
