Tineke Honingh About friendship, confidence and the power of language Shines a different light on physically disabled people A heartwarming story about two children dealing with their problems instead of running away from them It isn’t that easy to leave the past behind. 12-year-old Bo moves out of the city into an old farm on the edge of a village. A new environment, a new school. She’s looking forward to it – and dreading it. Everything depends on that first day of school. And it ends up being a disaster. Just when Bo starts to believe that it’ll all just be the same as in her previous school, she meets Tom. Thanks to Tom’s bravado and boldness, Bo discovers that with a touch of courage you can suddenly be much more than anyone has ever believed you could be; that you can even surprise yourself. But when she has just started trusting Tom, he does something terrible, putting Bo’s past out into the open. Through Tom’s attempts to make it up to her, Bo discovers why he has been helping her. It’s a discovery that’ll change everything once and for all.
Tineke Honingh is a communications consultant and author, and for a while she was also a teacher. First and foremost, however, she writes stories intended for children and young adults, or short stories intended for magazines, screenplays for comic books, serials on the internet or extensive stories that end up becoming a book, such as The (Un)usual Story of Bo (and Tom), which was highly praised upon publication.
