A Historic Windstorm This amazing image shows how the Iowa Geological Survey’s real-time geophysical sensors in the Des Moines area captured Iowa’s historic derecho storm. The IGS’s Jason Vogelgesang says, “You can see the waveform responding to the immense wind, beginning at 10:26 am and fading back to normal background conditions at 12:08 pm.”
