I love being a Vandal because everyone makes you feel welcome. You feel like you’re at home, I’ve met many new people since coming to U of I. I am proud of finishing my freshman year thanks to College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) for all the support.
What I plan to do in the future is to work as an HR generalist in a small diverse company that way I can help people like me. I know my Spanish minor will help me accomplish this.
My superpower is strength.
I am a CAMP scholar and because of them, I was able to finish my freshman year. They were able to help me financially and academically.
Thank you so much because of you guys I am able to continue my education.

My superpower is adaptation. There has been many times where my life has changed drastically. Adapting to the changes in life after receiving an associates degree, then high school diploma, being adopted by my stepdad, leaving home, starting college, leaving the campus to return to Boise for an internship, and returning to Moscow have been significant and for the most part not easy. I adapt and flourish!
Erika is one of many Vandal Promise Scholars turning opportunity into impact—thanks to you.
The thing I love most about being a Vandal is the gift of opportunity that title provides. I am most proud my academic performance here compared to high school. This school year was the first time I had straight A’s and a 4.0 GPA, the courage to step out and try different clubs, and my first internship as a first Government Relations Intern through the McClure Center for the legislative session.
With the help of having an Associates Degree at 18, I plan to finish my undergraduate degree by 2025 and apply for the 3+3 Program for U of I Law. After is law school and becoming an immigration attorney. Here I hope to provide support and hope to immigrants in need whether it be winning a case, or handing them their green card or citizenship. I want to provide as much accessible service possible.
Having to pay my own tuition, scholarships are make or break for my degree. I received a Diversity Scholar scholarship which allowed for many community service opportunities for incoming freshman at U of I. HYLS and Vandal Challenge are two examples. Being a Government Relations Intern, nor my passion for learning at U of I, would have been possible without scholarships.
Thank you for your generosity - it means the world to me. Coming from troubled family life, I experienced difficulty pay my own tuition. This support would lift some weight off my shoulders to focus on my academic performance and ability to be an active Vandal next semester instead of being locked away at work to afford rent. Your support will not go unnoticed!

I love the culture of being a Vandal! Everyone is very supportive of each other and I always feel like there are people behind me in everything I pursue. I’ve fallen in love with the art program this year, and the balance of guidance and play I get in my classes. I’m proud of how much work I’ve put into learning new mediums and pushing myself creatively in ways I haven’t before.
I love ice skating and used to play hockey! I once camped on a sidewalk for 4 days to get front row at a concert. I also love everything about space: constellations, black holes, galaxy formations--you name it, I love it.
I love creating and believe art is a deeply human tool that can impact lives and encourage change. Art can feel very personal, but inspires true connection with each other. I currently enjoy teaching pottery classes in the community, and I adore watching people discover the joy and presence of making. I’d like to create further outreach opportunities to make art more accessible and empower people.
This year, I got involved as a wellbeing ambassador. I was able to meet a team of kind and involved people and learn about how to build resiliency in my peers. I started a project with several other members of the group: the What Helps U&I Podcast, which allows for open discussion of topics college students face. It’s been an exciting way to not only help others, but build my own confidence too.
Scholarships are going to help me leave college and enter the world without debt. I cannot thank donors enough for helping to lift the financial burden of education, which has always been a goal for me. To be able to support myself through scholarships is something I pride myself in, and wouldn’t be possible without you. Thank you!

The only sports I have participated in are cheerleading and gymnastics. I did gymnastics from ages 6-13 and cheerleading from ages 13- 19. I also hate olives on pizza or any cooked olives. I love raw olives and could eat them for days, but once you cook them, they turn into mushy metal-tasting things.
Kaitlyn is one of many Vandal Promise Scholars turning opportunity into impact—thanks to you.
I love the U of I campus because it feels like a home away from home. The connections I have made are ones I want to keep forever. This last academic year, I learned a lot about who I am as a student, my weaknesses and my strengths. I also learned what I need to do to be successful in my classes.
I plan on becoming an athletic trainer once I graduate. I have always admired the ATs at my school and the knowledge that they had to share. I love the way you can connect with people through sports medicine.
I will be a second year on the Vandal Spirit cheer squad this year. The only way I could do this is through a scholarship, which would allow me to attend U of I.
I just want to thank you, Vandal Promise Scholarship donors, for you are the reason I am able to attend my dream college. U of I has been my top choice for schools since I began looking at them in middle school. You have allowed me to work hard and succeed in my future.

Depending on how things go, I plan on being a music teacher or performer. I would be most interested in becoming a professional musician.
I play on the ultimate frisbee team and also play club tennis here. Both of those help keep me active, happy, and social.
Thank you so much. I can’t believe I get to pursue my future with the support of donors, so thank you.

An interesting fact about me is that I am obsessed with Holsteins. Holsteins are a type of dairy cow, which is kind of funny because I’m lactose intolerant. I also love playing the viola. It is a string instrument that not many people know about, which is why I love it.

Not all homes have four walls and a roof. My home is the people and faculty at U of I. What I love most about being a Vandal is the feeling of being a family here on campus. I’m most proud of stepping away from my hometown. Being eight hours away from everything I have ever known. Leaving my comfort zone has led me to this great place and people.
My plans for the future are to make the animal community better. I want to become a veterinarian and work on large animals. I want to become a veterinarian to help the animals that help us.
This scholarship not only lets me do the activities I love, like hanging around animals, but it has also given me lifelong friends. Outside of academics, I believe friends are one of the most important things I have gotten. Because of this great scholarship, I got to experience a whole new life that I never thought would happen.
I am grateful to donors who help people continue their education without the burden of the thought of money. My parents are both very hard workers and have put in everything they have to help me. Having the extra lift in my college degree has been a big stress relief for me and my loved ones.

I love the community here. Everyone I’m surrounded by seems to love the school just as much as I do. The vibe around here is always positive, and I think that’s awesome.
With my degree, I plan to pursue a career in medicine or criminology. I find that aspect of biology the most interesting. I really want to focus on helping people, whether by discovering a piece of information no one else has discovered before or helping doctors conduct blood tests to save lives.
I haven’t done much outside of study.

What I love about being a Vandal is the support I have received from the staff and my friends at the university. Coming from a family that doesn’t have a lot of money, it’s the support I get from donors like you who have helped me! My academic life is the most important thing to me, and I’m proud of how I was able to power through my classes!
When I graduate, I hope to make an impact in the business field of animals. I’ve always had a passion for animals and finances. So being able to push forward and change the world of animals with one small step at a time. I love my major because it brings me closer to a passion I’ve had since childhood. That passion is to care for animals
I love to travel the world and I hope that I can do that one day. I’ve always loved attending rodeos and horseback riding. I grew up riding horses. My hidden talent is that I can touch the tip of my nose with my tongue.
These scholarships made it possible for me to attend school. Thanks to donors like you, I was able to pursue my love of a degree. My family couldn’t afford college for me, but with the help of these scholarships, I can continue on the path to my degree.
I would like to thank the donors for their support. The impact of getting this scholarship has made my life easier and the burden of attending school so much happier for my mother, who’s been struggling as a single parent.

I’m surprisingly really into roller skating! Although it has been a while, I’ve wanted to pick back up on this hobby since coming to the University of Idaho. My roommate has told me about the roller derby team she’s on, and I’m really hoping to get into that once I gain the proper skills. Joining a roller derby team has also been a goal I’ve had for a while, and I’ve just never told anyone before.
Dakota is one of many Vandal Promise Scholars turning opportunity into impact—thanks to you.
So far, I love being a Vandal because the environment is extremely positive. All of my professors want me to be the best I can be, and my advisors have supported me every step of the way. I’m so happy to have already met a great group of people I feel I’ll be friends with forever. I’m proud of myself for keeping my grades and GPA up. It was a big goal for me to achieve.
I enjoy how broad my major is and how it gives me many opportunities to choose which direction I want to take. As of right now, I’m not entirely sure what I want to do with my future, but I’m hoping that throughout my years at the University of Idaho, I’ll fall into something I love doing.
As I’ve only been here for two months, I have not had many opportunities to attend particular events. My RA brought up the new Photography Club, and I’m looking into joining it. Photography has been something I’ve wanted to get into for many years, but I never truly had the proper equipment to do so. I still love taking scenery photographs on my phone, and I do so any chance I get.
I am incredibly thankful for this scholarship. Just the opportunity to obtain this support means everything to me because it means I’ve worked hard enough to earn it. Earning this scholarship will greatly impact my and my family’s lives because it’s very hard for us to pay for ourselves, let alone pay for attending college. Once again, thank you so much. I will be endlessly grateful for your kindness.

The desire for my future grows every second, allowing me to reach heights I couldn’t do before.
Joseph is one of many Vandal Promise Scholars turning opportunity into impact—thanks to you.
My favorite thing about being a Vandal is the quality of education I get. I am most proud of how I made an academic comeback. I felt burnt out from my previous year, but I realized that I had to focus if I wanted to do myself proud.
My plans for the future are to make my own company and change the world with my inventions. I hope my actions don’t only help my chosen field but all the fields that exist. What I most love about studying mechanical engineering is my vision of adapting and growing as I learn more about mechanical engineering
In the beginning, I tried out clubs, but I wanted to focus on my academics and friends more. Outside of class, I enjoy learning about other fields than mine. This is usually done by reading books, watching YouTube videos, and reading research papers. I have more time for myself, and I am able to work out for longer.
Thank you so much for choosing me, because of you I don’t have to worry about the money and only my education. My family will be able to save money for something else. Thank you for giving me a mind of peace.

My favorite thing about being a Vandal is being a part of the fantastic community. Everyone I have met along my academic journey has reached out a helpful hand and guided me in the right direction! I am most proud of myself in my academic life this year! I have endured much and have much more to accomplish!
My plans for the future are to become a decorated Physical Therapist and help others along their journey in recovery. Last year, I suffered a lifechanging event: I had to undergo a rare knee surgery and was placed off campus for more than two months! I love that I am currently learning how to aid others in their struggles and, hopefully, will be able to help as many as I can.
Thanks to the scholarships, I have been able to further pursue research and dive into the realm of female physiology and exercise’s effects. Not much research has been performed in this area and my lab wants to be one of the frontrunners! I have also been able to attend different conferences where I am able to meet and expand new people and opportunities.
Thank you for taking a chance on a struggling student who wants to make a name for himself. Thank you for helping my family support me in the ways I need it the most and allowing me to pursue my dreams. Thank you for all the opportunities you have given me, and most importantly, thank you for changing my life. My life would look a lot different if I had never been given these blessings.

Something interesting about me is that I work as a zip line and kayak guide, and I have been there for the past six summers. It was the first actual job I ever had, and now I will be looking for internships the next couple of years, which means I will be leaving my outdoor job.
Avery is one of many Vandal Promise Scholars turning opportunity into impact—thanks to you.
I love being a Vandal because of the experience you get from Moscow and the Vandal campus. I have loved learning Architecture and Design for the past couple of years, and each professor has given me a new way to look at the world. I would not want to be anywhere else but at the University of Idaho; it is my new home. I am most proud of the previous year for pushing through and keeping my head up.
My plans for the future are to design and create beautiful yet comfortable living spaces. I have always been into organic architecture and blending structures with the surrounding environment. I hope to make the places where we live more enjoyable and sustainable so they will be there for generations.
There is not a lot of time outside of the classroom while studying Architecture. If I am outside class, I am at my apartment working on my models and/or laptop design. Any other free time that I have, I spend with friends, exploring Moscow or going to the gym to improve myself.
I would like to start by saying thank you. Without donors like you, I would not be able to attend college and pursue my career. This scholarship helps me more than you will ever know, and I appreciate everything you have done to support students like me.

I have incredible reflexes... but only when I’m not expecting something to happen. I can’t count the number of times I’ve caught something that otherwise would’ve been impossible (not to brag, but I’ve caught slippery soap). I also caught a book that fell behind me as I was walking past. I think it’s the only reason I don’t have a completely broken phone!
Ava is one of many Vandal Promise Scholars turning opportunity into impact—thanks to you.
What I love most about being a Vandal is how welcoming the community is. I have yet to encounter a bad experience—everyone here is an example of that. There’s nowhere I wouldn’t go because I know I’ll be accepted with open arms.
I hope to make an impact through my acting skills. Whether it’s through small performances spreading positivity or working on a professional level to use my resources to their fullest potential. All in all, I want to make people feel understood and provide some outlet to relax without worrying about the world for a bit.
Using this scholarship, I have been able to pursue my hobby of musical arts. Specifically, I have flourished in the marching band community and, thanks to this opportunity, don’t have to worry about covering expenses.
I know there are lots of people out there in need of scholarships and I’m forever grateful to be on the receiving side of an amazing group of people who work hard to help provide for students in need. One thing that I love about U of I is that the campus and all of its students and faculty are all so welcoming and caring. Walking around I can always see a familiar face that I know I can count on. I am very proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone moving away from home and also maintaining a spot on the dean’s list.
I plan to get a job, as soon as I obtain my teaching degree, at a local elementary school in Emmett. Teaching has always been something that I have had a passion for, and I cannot wait to make an impact on my students. I have enjoyed all of my education classes so far, and I am so excited to continue taking more education classes in the future.
An interesting fact about me is that I visited Costa Rica last February, and it was the best vacation I have ever been on. One of my dreams is to learn Spanish and teach English to children in Costa Rica!
Throughout high school, I participated in FFA and livestock judging. My livestock judging opportunities were due to scholarships. My team and I were able to travel to Arizona to participate in the National Livestock Judging competition which was paid for by scholarships. Scholarships have helped me in so many ways, and continue to help me get through college to obtain my degree in teaching.
I would first like to thank the donors for this scholarship and let them know how grateful I am now and will forever be because of this scholarship. Scholarships not only mean money to me but also opportunities that will last a lifetime and put me closer to getting my degree. My parents have always played a big role in my academic accomplishments and I will continue to make them proud!

One of the best parts about being a Vandal is the Vandal Family. The support from fellow classmates, connections from alumni, and social experience is undeniably one of the best things I’ve ever been apart of. It has allowed me to build myself up personally and professionally in profound ways.
After graduation, I will spend the summer in Washington, D.C., studying for the LSAT. This will be my third summer in D.C., and I look forward to networking and learning for yet another summer. Following this, I am exploring travel options for my gap year. I am looking to volunteer somewhere, but what and where are to be determined. In the fall of 2026, I will attend law school.
I am currently serving as ASUI President and previously served as Chapter President of Gamma Phi Beta, President of the Pre Law Society, and several other leadership opportunities within those organizations. By not working a full time job, I have taken full advantage of the time I otherwise would’ve spent working to positively impact myself and my communities.
I clearly understand the value of a dollar and have held various jobs for as long as I can remember. At UI, I have viewed my scholarships as a investment from those who came before me and the flexibility that has accompanied as a responsibility to make an impact. The significance of this is something I’ve never taken for granted and I cannot overstate how impactful this has been on my life.

An interesting fact about myself is that I went to state drama for a humorous monologue. I love improv and am quick on my feet when it comes to making jokes. I have lived in 16 different places in 18 years.

I love being a Vandal because of the opportunity I receive to make connections. So far, even though it’s my earliest class, AVS 109, with Professor Bass, he is the best teacher for an early morning class. I’m excited about the opportunity I have to continue my passion for agriculture through the clubs that are here.
I wanted to be an agriculture teacher to help kids find their own passion for it, like my own agriculture teacher did. I love that I am going to be able to make a positive impact on kids’ lives. Food science has been a passion of mine, one that I don’t want to give up on. I love seeing all the ways to make sustainable foods.
One of the activities that was made possible because of scholarships is hopefully going to the AFA (Agriculture Future of America) conference. One of my goals is to be an American degree recipient with FFA within the next year. I am now able to pay any dues if needed for intramural wrestling.
Thank you for providing a way for me to achieve my dreams. It’s going to be too hard to choose between WSU and U of I for food science, but this just made it easier. The two majors aren’t the most similar, yet I know now that I am headed in the right direction.

I love to read. I read over 30 books a year. My parents almost named me my middle name, Daveigh. I have recently gotten into fishing!

I love being at the University of Idaho because I have been able to work individually with each of my professors throughout my time here. I also have made many friends both in and outside of my college with how many classes are combined with multiple colleges. I am extremely proud of teaching my first lessons to students outside of my college classrooms!
I am excited to student teach in the Spring 2025 semester. I hope to learn more about classroom management and support each of my students as individuals. I love my field of study because I get to learn just as much as my students will learn every day. I also feel like I can help build the next generation to make a difference in the world.
This summer, I studied abroad in New Zealand and worked as a teaching intern at Wilson School, which allowed me to experience exactly what it is like to teach in a K-12 classroom.
Thank you so much! The scholarships I have received have been able to support me financially so I don’t have to work during the school year and I can focus on academics. They also offered me the ability to use my savings since starting at the university to go toward a study abroad trip.

Pre-veterinary science
I’m incredibly good with animals, to the point that it tends to freak people out a bit. They’re always baffled when I tell them random information or facts they have no reason to know.

I chose the University of Idaho because it has one of the best pre-vet programs in the state, and I’ve always wanted to be a veterinarian. My parents were incredibly excited about the scholarship and incredibly thankful for the award. Most of the advice I’ve been given is to find a good life-study balance and not burn myself out while still enjoying college and doing well in classes.
Since I was a little kid, I’ve wanted to be a veterinarian, and I’ve been making moves toward that career since before I started high school. I hope to be able to help smaller communities either by being a veterinarian or by having my own practice and helping people who haven’t had veterinary care for their animals.
I did a few competitions with FFA, including the state on the vet science team; I also did two externships at two different veterinary hospitals and have done teaching classes with the vet who works with my dad. I’m looking forward to working at the barns on campus once school starts and doing more outside, like hiking and anything to do with nature.
This support will help tremendously with paying for college. Because I only have a small portion saved for my education, this scholarship means a world of difference to what my parents will have to pay to help me achieve my goals in this school. I cannot thank them enough for their generosity and donation.
