Applied Studies in Fundamental Food Manufacturing

Learn about culinary sanitation, nutrition, wellness and sustainability, and learn to prepare rolled sushi, create pasta from scratch, make and bake pizza and mix salad dressing for composed salads. Our chef instructor will guide you through culinary basics and hospitality careers in Hawai’i as we practice seasoning, flavoring and cooking techniques.

MLI: Full Time Program

Did you take Spanish in school, but all you can say is HOLA? Is all that grammar and conjugation confusing? Well, there’;s better and more efficient way to learn Spanish through reading and storytelling! In this course, the instructor will guide the class to create characters and stories 100% in Spanish resulting in language acquisition. By the end of the course, participants will understand basic Spanish, and will be able to respond to simple questions. The MLI full time program is an intensive English language learning program designed to help students achieve substantial improvement in both written and spoken English in preparation for academic and vocational pursuits. The full time program includes all MLI courses and is offered from 9:00-1:30 Monday-Thursdays. Program includes courses in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and cultural literacy. The program runs in eight week sessions followed by a final exams week. MLI application required.

Intermediate American Sign Language

In this intermediate course, students will learn to apply communication skills in American Sign Language (ASL) based on previous training. The course will focus on observing expressive and receptive skills through the use of hand signage.
