On July 25, 2025, two of his latest films — The Home and Oh, Hi! — are premiering on the same day, underscoring his rising star status in the industry.

In The Home, a psychological horror film directed by James DeMonaco and starring Pete Davidson, Jimmy delivers a compelling performance in a story that explores secrets, trauma, and survival within the eerie confines of a mysterious retirement home. The film’s gripping tone and chilling atmosphere offer Jimmy the opportunity to showcase his dramatic range in a genre he’s rarely explored — further solidifying his reputation as a versatile performer unafraid of bold choices.

Meanwhile, Oh, Hi! a heartwarming indie dramedy starring Molly Gordon reveals Jimmy’s softer, more comedic side. The film centers around unexpected friendships and personal reinvention, themes that closely parallel Jimmy’s own life. His role brings humor, humanity, and emotional depth, providing a counterbalance to the intensity of The Home and giving audiences a fuller glimpse into his artistic versatility.

But even amidst the lights and cameras, Jimmy's real-life heroism continues to shine

While in Florida for his Jimmy Gary Jr. Film Acting Workshop and working on his latest project, Ex's in the Country, Jimmy made national headlines for a reason that had nothing to do with the screen. While staying at the Evermore Resort in Orlando, he spotted a 5-year-old boy, Graysyn Harris, struggling in the water. Without hesitation, Jimmy jumped in and pulled the child to safety a moment of bravery that touched hearts nationwide.

Since that day, Jimmy has built a meaningful bond with Graysyn and his family. As a gesture of love and connection, he plans to take the young boy to see his nephew, Evan Neal of the New York Giants, play live — turning a traumatic experience into a lifelong memory rooted in care and kindness.

In addition to being an actor, Jimmy is also a director, producer, educator, and devoted father. His resume includes standout performances in Orange is the New Black (where he played CO Rikerson from 2015–2017, earning a SAG Award), New Amsterdam, FBI: Most Wanted, Ray Donovan, When They See Us, and indie gem Happythankyoumoreplease which won the Audience Award at Sundance in 2010. He has also left his mark in theater, most recently in the production MAAFA: Rebelliousness, and has appeared in numerous national commercials. Despite his rising profile, Jimmy has never lost sight of his roots or his passion for giving back. His annual summer film workshop teaches youth the fundamentals of acting, auditioning, and on-set life, ensuring the next generation of creatives enters the industry with confidence and knowledge.

Jimmy Gary Jr. is more than a successful actor. He is a survivor, a mentor, a father, and a force for good. His ability to pivot with grace, reinvent with purpose, and serve with heart is what truly sets him apart. From saving lives to stealing scenes, Jimmy’s story is one of redemption, reinvention, and relentless drive And if his current trajectory is any indication Jimmy Gary Jr. is just getting started.
