Opportunities for Community College Students

If you have completed a liberal arts transfer program, you may find that many of our common curriculum requirements, as well as prerequisites, have been met.

Students can also take advantage of the Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP), an agreement between UConn and Connecticut State Community College. Students who plan to earn a bachelor’s degree in the colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences or Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources or the School of Business are guaranteed admission to UConn once they have earned an associate degree in an approved liberal arts transfer program.

The Blueprint

First-year applicants must apply online through either the Common Application or the Coalition Application. The UConn Application is recommended for transfer applicants.

We review applications holistically, considering grade point average, class rank, SAT or ACT score,* required essay, extracurricular activities, and optional letters of recommendation. This allows us to gain a full understanding and measurement of an applicant’s potential to be a successful UConn Husky.

UConn automatically considers all first-year admission applicants for merit scholarships and our Honors Program.

* TEST-OPTIONAL POLICY UConn is allowing first-year applicants the choice to submit standardized test results through the fall 2026 entry term. If you believe your SAT or ACT scores reflect your academic ability and want them considered, UConn requires official scores sent directly from the testing agency. Writing and science sections are not required or used in our review.
