UConn Avery Point delivers an exceptional educational experience in one of southeastern Connecticut’s most stunning waterfront settings. Our coastline campus emphasizes experiential learning, hands-on lab programs, and robust field studies to help students understand the marine ecosystems of today and the environmental challenges of tomorrow. If land-based activities are more your speed, you can join or start a student organization, become an Associated Student Government leader, or participate in our Leadership Series or Husky Ambassador programs. Find Your UConn
Enjoy all the benefits of a prestigious public research university in a small college setting. Choose from UConn’s 125+ majors, complete your first 54 credits (typically two years) at UConn Avery Point and then seamlessly transition to UConn’s main campus in Storrs to finish your bachelor’s degree. Or, select one of our four-year majors and complete your degree entirely at UConn Avery Point.
FEATURED PROGRAMS
English
The English major at UConn Avery Point builds a strong foundation in literary and rhetorical analysis, as well as developing writing and critical thinking skills.
Marine Sciences
Study the science of the coastal environment and its relationship to society through a curriculum that integrates marine biology, chemistry, geology, and physics with policy, law, and economics. Three in four marine sciences students engage in research before graduation.
Maritime Studies
Explore how oceans and rivers shape our world. Choose from tracks in Blue Humanities, Fisheries Policy, Marine Policy, or Maritime Archaeology.
Psychological Sciences
Explore topics like human development; memory, perception, and cognition; organizational structures; therapy techniques; neuroscience; and the connections of the mind to behavior.
The Bachelor of General Studies is available to students with at least 60 transferable credits from a regionally accredited institution.

UConn Avery Point is home to several research centers that contribute to the academic excellence of our campus community. Collaborate with professors on projects for Mystic Aquarium and Mystic Seaport Museum, or tackle climate change and help improve campus sustainability to enrich your UConn experience and drive positive change in our world.
CAMPUS LIFE
Whether you’re an eager fan, a casual athlete, or a hardcore competitor, there’s a home for you here. Our baseball and basketball programs are standouts in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and a competitive sailing team is set to make waves. With Long Island Sound as a backdrop, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, and our annual cardboard boat race are popular among students.
