Kyra Rice

Graduate of Patient Advocacy Certificate program and COVID-19 Retraining & Recovery (CORE) Fund Scholar. After Kyra’s career was impacted by the pandemic, she chose to pursue studies to re-enter the workforce in a new, high-demand role. Through SoLa Impact’s scholarship, Kyra and other South L.A. professionals laid-off or furloughed due to COVID-19 have had the opportunity to get back on their feet. “I was a little hesitant about this certificate program in the beginning because I had not been to school in a while and was just nervous about online coursework. I have gained so much knowledge and confidence within myself and the medical field that I currently work in. I see myself also volunteering for a nonprofit offering some of my new found skills to others in underprivileged communities.” In combination with certificate program coursework, CORE Fund Scholars participate in a customized Success Academy, a community engagement program that teaches essential skills needed to secure, maintain, and advance in a job or launch a career through empowerment sessions.

Upcoming Programs

Behavioral Health Support Specialist Training Program

UCLA Extension is offering a new training program designed to support new and existing behavioral health workers interested in serving the needs of the LGBTQ population in Greater Los Angeles. Funded by a $1.5 million federal grant, UCLA Extension will offer this program at no cost to students, admitting one cohort per year for four years. UCLA Extension + Pfizer

The Custom Programs and Corporate Education Department is collaborating with Pfizer to provide training in the area of real world data/evidence in oncology to employees from regulatory agencies and health technology assessment organizations from Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and Argentina. UCLA Extension is pleased to welcome Pfizer among our growing portfolio of partner organizations from the bioscience and health care industries, which also includes UCLA Health, Kaiser Permanente, and others.

International University Partnerships

UCLA Extension collaborates with leading universities from around the world to provide hundreds of students per year with opportunities to experience a different style of teaching, learn about American culture, enhance their network, and build their international resumes. University partners include Beijing Foreign Studies University (China), CEU San Pablo (Spain), EDHEC Business School (France), and SKEMA Business School (seven campuses worldwide). Offering UCLA Extension’s certificates and credit-bearing courses within the partner school degree programs, fields of study include International Trade and Commerce, Business and Management, Marketing, and Business and Management of Entertainment.
