The title of this project is the Intersection. Originally, intersection is used to mean “a place where two or more roads meet; junction.” In an intersection various cars intersect with other car. Some people pass through the intersection In order to get to work, others may be on a trip to pick up someone. People who are in a hurry may also pass through it. On the other hand, people pass through while singing ho-songs. In addition, not only cars, trucks and buses, pedestrians, runners, even animals may be visiting the intersection. The intersection is considered as a place where such various things come and go. Diversity is one of the most important term in my project. London is a diversity city where people come from many countries. Though the scale is too large in the country and city. I should focus on small area and scale.

However, what is the place with diversity? Airport? Is it an office building? There is a diversity that the place people gather such as London or nature. In a diverse space I believe even though they are not conscious of each other, they may have a slight influence on each other and something may be brought. Serendipity is not hard to be delivered in an environment with diversity. I think that it’s important to make accidentalness in an environment. In other words, I would say to divide the thing that can be controlled and uncontrolled and

think importance of designing uncontrolled things. The trivial machine is introduced Heinz von Foerster, is a one-to-one relationship between machine and human. It’s is a simple input and output relationship such as a toaster. In this project, I tackle on my work combination with multiple trivial machine and explore continuous changing situation on my work. Since trivial machine is a predictable system, normally people is getting bored soon in the trivial machines’ space. However, it is nearly impossible to create a non trivial machine that is more complicated and difficult to realise. So, I decided to make the trivial machine more complicated by making multiple trivial machines. One of my goal in this project is that my work functions as a black-box for a visitor. Machines are characterised as heading to be stable because machines are essentially only repeating simple electrical signals. In order to solve its characteristic, I have to incorporate not only digital technology but also analog elements. It is a visitor’s moving in the space, how visitor will move is unpredictable, so it is compatible with sensors. As the visitor move, the sensor reacts, the lights gleam, the rods sway. As much as possible, I designed not only to have a one-on-one relationship but to respond by a third person around. Even though the visitor wanted them to gleam, it might not be the case. This is my another goal for the project. For that reason, this space is designed to be 3.5 m x 3.5 m.
