Projects 03: CIAD5001 17/09/18- 12/12/18 0.1 Brief

Climates Pin-Up Thursday 4th October 2018 Following two weeks of independant study you will be able to present articulately regarding your topic, assigned overleaf. You will be making a physical presentation of your invesigations on your topic and you should be able to graphically format and represent the research information you have interpreted from at least ten sources. Your sources need to be legitimately published and you can present a bibliography at the end of the presentation. Use books, journals, reliable on-line resources and consider if you think each source is sufficiently detailed and up to date to be part of your presentation. You will be using this research information to develop your own individual design investigations in Phase 2 of the Inside/Outside project, the briefing being on the 05/11. You should also think about how this work will end up in your portfolio. It would be wise and efficient to think about this as you are developing your presentation. You should be working towards a five minute, maximum, try and be efficient with the slides, adding more information rather than less, so you can aim to translate densely laid out sheets straight into portfolio sheets. Indesign is a good programme to use here. Diagrams are great. They allow you to lay out complicated information from text sources in a way that can be easily understood by an observer of your work, and they demonstrate you have made an attempt to assimilate, analyse and represent your research. Think about precedents and ways to approach your research topic. Are there artists/ designers/ practioners/ scienticts and thinkers you might preaent? You could think culturally, scientifically, philosophically and personally about your topic, are there films and narratives you could draw on? You should also be using this time to engage with the unit reading list. There is time and opportuntiy to presesent some good thinking here.
