A May Day Charlotte Handsley I woke up on the burning concrete, I could feel the heat surrounding me. I didn’t have much time, and I had to use it wisely. The concrete went on for miles, and the skin on my feet was burning. I had no shoes, no water, no guidance, just the sun and me. It seemed that there was no night on this planet. I took my scarf off and ripped it in half, I then tied the pieces around the bottom of my feet. Ok, you’re probably wondering how I got in the middle of a concrete desert by myself, so I’ll start from the beginning. Aka, my house on earth. It all started on a normal morning in York, the birds were chirping, the sky was blue and there was no cloud in sight. I woke up with a stretch and a yawn and made myself some breakfast. I don’t really like mornings because I find it difficult to wake up, but that day was different, I had a job interview and I was ready. The job looked fun and the pay was alright so I signed up. Being a florist didn’t seem like a bad idea, I was wrong. I decided to walk to the shop because I had spare time and it was a lovely morning. I went on a walk through the park as a shortcut, but that was the biggest mistake I could have ever made. Someone grabbed me on the arm and dragged me down, I couldn’t move, my arms went stiff and then everything went black…
