Settling in Brooklyn’s Bensonhurst in 1962, he swiftly embedded himself in the food industry, starting at Villa Cucci Italian Bakery. His quest for authentic Italian cuisine led him to establish Flora’s Drive-In pizza parlor in Miami Beach, and subsequently, Flora’s Italian Restaurant in Hollywood, Florida. Recognizing a gap in the market, John transitioned into supplying Italian ingredients to restaurants, a venture that evolved into Flora Fine Foods.

Today, it’s celebrated as a premier source for genuine Italian products, esteemed by national grocers and specialty markets alike. In an industry facing the winds of economic change, John Flora sees resilience as the key ingredient.
“The current climate has prompted a dip in the wine sector, but our familyowned operation thrives by staying dynamic,” he shares. Unlike larger conglomerates, Flora’s nimbleness has been a boon, leading to consistent growth even in tumultuous times.
