We are constantly evolving the educational materials available to both educators and students on issues of sustainability and circular economies to help them look beyond their Junk Kouture project and begin to apply the knowledge learned to all aspects of their lives.

TY Hub Webinar on Water Safety Makes a Splash with RNLI Expert In a bid to enhance water safety awareness among educators and students, TY Hub, in collaboration with the RNLI, orchestrated a riveting and interactive webinar that delved into the depths of aquatic safety measures.

Held on February 20th, from 10 AM to 12 PM, the virtual event transformed screens into an immersive water-centric experience, offering invaluable insights and practical tips to navigate the aquatic realm securely.

Registrants were treated to a comprehensive agenda that covered an array of crucial topics. From understanding weather patterns and tides to mastering the art of wearing life jackets, the webinar left no stone unturned in its mission to equip attendees with essential life-saving knowledge.

Among the highlights were sessions on acclimatization techniques, the importance of floating, and the intricacies of handling cold water shock. Additionally, participants were enlightened on rip currents, tides, and were even treated to a Google Map workshop on ring buoys, ensuring they were armed with the necessary tools to navigate emergency situations effectively.

Killian O'Kelly, a seasoned expert from the RNLI, captivated audiences with his expertise and engaging delivery, making the learning experience both informative and enjoyable.

What do Special Olympics Ireland Do? Special Olympics transforms lives through sport.

We are a sports organisation for people with an intellectual disability from the age of 4 years old with no upper age limit. Currently almost 8,000 athletes from across the island of Ireland participate in 15 different sports through Special Olympics.

Through our sports, health and leadership programmes our athletes learn to be physically, mentally and emotionally fit. They get to learn new skills, increase confidence and most importantly they get to experience the joy of sport and make life-long friendships!

None of this would be possible without the great passion, energy and support of our TY Student programme across the country. TY students play a massive role across our clubs, events and fundraising activities throughout the year.

Meet The Athletes Our athletes will range from 4 years of age through to athletes in their late 80’s.

The involvement of young volunteers in our clubs and at our events is hugely important and ensures that our clubs and events will continue successfully into the future and continues the provision of opportunities for all our athletes to access sport in their communities. Superhero Day: October 2024 Superhero Day is a fun way to let your students’ inner hero shine through while celebrating and raising funds for Special Olympics athletes. Dress up as your favourite Superheroes, real or not, this October, and donate what you can to Special Olympics Ireland

Polar Plunge: December 2024 Take on the Polar Plunge this December and to get Freezin for a Reason!

With 4 events returning this year, in Dublin, Louth, Donegal and Waterford, we would love to have your students onboard at one of these events. Are they BRRRRRave enough to take on the challenge?

Collection Day: April 2024 This coming April 18th and 19th, at locations nationwide, we will be holding out National Collection Day and are calling on your students for support for the day. Can you help out at one of our bagpacks or shopping centre collections in your locality? We aim to have up to 3,000 volunteers on the streets on the day and its only possible with the support of TY students across the country.

Event or Club Volunteering: 2024 Would your class like to get involved with running one of our sports events? Get in touch and we will see if we have any events that suit you! Or perhaps you are looking for weekly volunteer roles to put towards Gaisce volunteering hours? Our clubs would love to have student support on a regular basis.

Over 3000 Students Embark on a Sky-High Adventure with TY Hub LIVE Event Featuring The Irish Air Corps April 24, 2024 In an extraordinary display of enthusiasm and curiosity, more than 3000 students from all corners of Ireland logged in to participate in the TY Hub LIVE webinar, titled "The Sky-High Adventure," featuring insights into the career pathways within The Irish Air Corps. Held on April 24th, the event offered a glimpse into the thrilling opportunities awaiting aspiring aviators.

The webinar, organised by TY Hub, aimed to provide an exclusive platform for students to explore the various avenues available within The Irish Air Corps. Divided into three distinct pathways - General Service, Technician Apprenticeship, and Cadetship for Pilots - the event promised to illuminate the unique journeys individuals could undertake to pursue their dreams of flying high.

One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity to interact with real-life heroes and trailblazers currently serving in the Air Corps. Attendees had the privilege of hearing firsthand accounts from New and Seasoned General Service members, Apprentices, Established Technicians, Cadets, and Pilots, gaining valuable insights into the challenges and triumphs of life in the skies.

The interactive Q&A session allowed participants to engage directly with the speakers, addressing their burning questions about life in the Irish Air Corps. Choose a soft and chunky yarn for quicker progress.

Headbands: These are great for practicing basic stitches and can be completed in no time.

Each square can be a different color or stitch pattern.

Who Can Participate?

Program Details The B!G Idea features 25 workshops focused on creative thinking, covering five themes aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals: Climate Change, Mental Health, Cost of Living, AI for Humanity, and Diversity & Inclusion. Students work in teams to develop innovative solutions to these challenges.
