‘Ready for a forever home’ The Fisantekraal Animal Welfare (FAW) is grateful for all the donations that were dropped of at its container shop in Fisantekraal. The FAW is looking for donations of any good quality household goods and clothing to sell at the shop to less fortunate people in aid of the organisation. To drop off, contact Anita on 021 979 5712.

Six-month-old Cindy is an adorable, cheeky terrier cross. She would love a family who can appreciate her fun antics. She will do well with a canine playmate. She will be small to medium in size once fully grown.

The animals in the care of the FAW that are now ready for their forever homes, are six-month-old Cindy and mother-and-son, Pippa and Terry. An adoption fee and home check apply. V Contact Joan on 021 975 8008 or 083 356 2825 or Jane on 076 799 0249 with enquiries. Visit Fisantekraal Animal Welfare on Facebook or www.faw.za.org to see more animals needing homes.

Mother-and-son, Pippa (right) and Terry are Belgian shepherd crosses, that were rescued together. Pippa, about three years old, likes to play in water and walks well on a lead. One-year-old Terry is playful and a little bit shy.

Keep furry friends warm in winter While we start piling on the layers and bringing out those thick blankets in readiness for the winter months ahead, the Cape of Good Hope SPCA in Grassy Park is appealing to Capetonians not to forget about the many animals in need of extra warmth during this cold and wet time of year. “As we start to prepare our kennels and hospital for these cold winter months we put forth a plea to the public for donations of any clean and/or new blankets. Because it is not uncommon to find between 150 to 200 stray and homeless animals at the SPCA on any given day – as well as around 140 pets in hospital – we need loads of blankets. In our experience we have found that Polar Fleece blankets work well as they give lots of warmth, are easy to clean and dry quickly,” says SPCA spokesperson Lara Robertson. “Pet food donations are also always very welcome and will go a long way to assist us in filling up our winter pantry. “Please help us make this a comfortable and snug winter for the animals in our care.” All donations of blankets can be dropped off at the SPCA in Grassy Park or at any one of our 10 convenient collection points: Kwikspar in Kloof Street; Monte Vista Citivet in Monte Vista; Soneike Vet Shop in Kuils River; Van Riebeeckshof Vet Shop in

SPCA volunteer Di Pelman with Monty. Welgedacht; Graanendal Vet Shop in Goedemoed; De Ville Vet Shop in Durbanville; Vetclin in Table View; Milnerton Vet Clinic in Milnerton and the Weskus Animal Clinic in Melkbosstrand. Goods market bedding down As autumn starts chilling the air and Cape Town starts preparing for its red wine and fire winter hibernation, the Century City Natural Goods Market is hosting its last Sunday fair until the weather warms up again. It will be held on Sunday 28 April from 09:00 to 14:00 at Central Park, Park Lane in Century City (follow Intaka Island signs). Trenton and Free Radical are playing out the summer season at the market with a one-hour set starting at 11:30. The band’s reggae-infused Afro-beat sound will provide a distinctive and edgy soundtrack. Of course the children have been taken care of too. “Atomant” will deliver a 45minute science show that introduces children to the magic of science, and the fun that can be had when experiments are brought to life in a puff of smoke, with the roar of a rocket, in the creation of slime... While there’s an entertaining menu for visitors, the market gives shoppers time to

celebrate the festive side of life with a glass of organic bubbly while browsing around the great selection of quality products and delicious food, kept cool and safe under stretch Bedouin tents created by Touareg. As always there are healthy gourmet meals, curries, salads, samoosas, smoked fish, fishcakes, biltong, pies, vegetarian, cheeses, beer, champagne, and more. There will also be stalls selling crafts and clothing at reasonable prices, or one can buy fabulous natural body care products and jewellery. The on-site clubhouse has seating facilities and offers coffee, tea and a bar. Visitors can also enjoy boat trips from Intaka Island. Once again, the local Century City Rotary will be on hand to tell people about the community service projects they support, particularly Sinenjongo High School in Joe Slovo Park in Milnerton. Die beleid sal van 1 tot 31 Mei 2013 by www.planning.capetown.gov.za (klik op die “sê jou sê”-merker) en by alle subraadskantore, biblioteke en distriksbeplanningskantore beskikbaar wees.
