Nog foto’s sal volgende week ver skyn. Foto: Carina Roux

) Tributes pouring in for wheelchairman

‘He touched lives’ REYANA STEYN

“A loving man who touched the lives of all those around him.” That is how Cornelius Buys, who was killed in a tragic accident in Goodwood, is described by those who knew him. Wheelchair-bound Buys (58) was killed when he was hit on the N7 bridge, as he was making his way to his Kuils River home from Grandwest Casino on Sunday 4 March.

He was flung from his motorised wheelchair and died instantly due to his injuries. The deaf driver of the car that collided into Cornelius was not injured. The family has made arrangements for him to be buried on Saturday and the funeral service to be held at the De Eike Church in Kuils River. Anna-Marie Buys (58), Cornelius’s wife tells TygerBurger that she prefers to remember the legacy which her husband has left behind.

“We were married for 39 years and all those years were amazing. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and community person. He was also an honest, intelligent man who always tried to assist people in need.” With a smile on her face she says she will miss hearing his voice. “‘Marie’, I would hear every half an hour and even now that he is gone, I still hear it. “It’s sad what happened, but it is God’s way. Now that he is gone our family can see the impact he had on
