Finger­licking good says City & Guilds JANA BEKKER A culinary arts diploma student in food preparation and cooking from Durbanville has received a medal for excellence from one of the biggest names in vocational education, City & Guilds. The 25-year-old Donna Fennelly of the Mount Professional School of Cookery and Management, received this award for “outstanding talents she demonstrated during her Diploma in Food Preparation and Cooking (Culinary Arts) qualification. Donna was one of only two South African candidates this year to achieve this international award. Donna was nominated by owner Peter Ahern, after the school was selected out of 7 000 cookery schools worldwide to make a nomination. Donna has been in Cape Town for the past two years – 18 months at the school. The school offers a Culinary Arts diploma that involves theory and practical. The school acknowledges the City & Guilds’ method of culinary studies. In June Donna will go to England to collect her award.
