Letter from Leadership

“Life is a balance of holding on and letting go. ”
– Rumi

During this year of celebrating our 30 years of serving Cape children and families, it has been a joy to see photos and notes from past students, participants, parents, board members, community partners, and donors. As a community and organization, we have supported thousands of families during our first three decades – quite an accomplishment! and many of those first infants are now parents!

As Elizabeth Aldred wrote in a recent newsletter:

“From those early meetings (with families and community members), Cape Cod Children’s Place was designed and created. It was a grassroots process, initiated and developed through engagement with our community. And as families’ needs have evolved, our programs have evolved with them.”

Just as we did when we started, during our strategic planning process this past year, we went back out to the community to listen once again and uncover the supports that families need most

As a result of these conversations, we renew our mission and vision statements, and recommitted ourselves to working with families – built by choice, chance, or circumstances – and the community organizations that serve them.

We didn’t need a major overhaul, just small adjustments, and new ways to make sure we are accessible to all

We will continue and enhance our efforts to

Implement technology tools to make it easier to connect

Explore extended hours and days for our programs

Offer support for parents of older children

Enrich our staff development plans to meet the changing needs of children and families

On our path forward, we will hold on to what we have done best - building relationships, fostering strengths, and listening to those we serve

This past year has been one of reflection and renewal, a search for balance as we hold both our history and our next chapter We are committed to our current work, and will continue to dream big of how that work can improve and expand to reach more of our neighbors on the Cape –children, families, and our community partners who work with them

The CCCP staff made our family feel so supported and offered us any resource we might need They listened to us so could provide the best care for our daughter, who has a lifelong medical condition. We are treated like family h

I was given so many amazing tools by [the FIRST Steps] team I am an entirely different person, and I can look at things so differently I am worthy, I am capable, I have a chance at making a better life.

Children’s Place brings people together to build a support network while also doing parent education

– Parent Education Participant

Children’s Place offers great support for new parents – being able to get out of the house on a regular basis was important for my mental health

– Playgroup Participant

Cape Cod Children’s Place is incredibly important to families like mine because they truly understand what it means to support the whole family – not just the child. Living on the Cape, where resources can be spread out, it means so much to have one place that feels safe, connected, and community-centered They’re not just a resource-they’re a lifeline.

– CCCP Participant

I saw a big difference in my son’s development [after PC+] If we didn’t get this service, he would be really behind. They helped me get a voucher and get him into a childcare center. They were so helpful, I called and it worked like magic

– ParentChild+ Program Partici

When challenging times arise with my child, I'm able to take a breath and respond with connection, as opposed to frustration

– Parent Education Participant

Grateful for our 2025 partners in building better futures!
