Bec O’Brien reports: voted on the winners at its December 16 meeting. “I was absolutely floored. You do things for the community and you don’t expect this type of thing,” Norm said. Along with wife Sue, Norm has lived at Thompson Beach for the past 22 years. They were the town’s first residents. Norm continually has given his time to better improve facilities in the town and to fight for the protection of the fragile coastal environment. A member of the Thompson Beach Community Association, Norm was pleased to help establish a community shed in the town this year and loves living in such a close-knit community. “It’s God’s country here,” he said. “I fell in love with the place. I love our little town, I love our little community. We’ve got great people who live here, and I really do love the whole area, the whole town. “I don’t ever envisage moving away, it’s just a wonderful place to come home to. We’ve been all over the world and this is just a lovely place. It’s like we’ve lived here our whole lives.” Peter Seccafien, 22, has lived his whole life in Two Wells and was chosen for his commitment to community services, through his job as a police officer, his excellent schooling record as well as his dedication and support of the Two Wells Cricket Club and other local sporting clubs and community groups. United Football Club’s 2013 APFL Grand Final event was named the Community Event of the year, with the Community Group of the Year award going to the Mallala RSL for its popular Sunday lunches and the Community Project Of the Year awarded to the Mallala and Districts Lions Club for its Mallala Oval toilet amenity project. n Continued Page 2
