TWO WELLS STREET PARADE, FRIDAY DECEMBER 16

M

eet our town’s first Christmas Street Parade Prince and Princess, Cale Russell and Tameka Simons. These two up and coming youngsters have been chosen by the Two Wells Regional Action Team as examples of young community members going above and beyond to better themselves, help others and give back to the district. TWRAT vice president Bev Smith-Trim said the idea for the prince and princess came from a desire to highlight those younger Two Wells residents who are involved in the community. “This is something a bit extra for the street parade,” Bev said. “And hopefully it inspires other young people to get out and do something in the community.” Bev, along with council members Jan Heley and Mark Wasley, presented the pair with robes, a crown and a medal on November 22 to commemorate their part in this year’s parade. Two Wells resident Lesley Hunkin made the glittering robes for the prince and princess. Bev said thirteen-year-olds Cale and Tameka would walk in the parade and then help Father Christmas meet and greet all the local children in “Teddy Bear Hall”. “I liked the idea of it,” she said. “I wanted it to be a young person who has some input in the community, someone who makes a contribution. “I like to think we can have different things at the parade each year.” This year’s street parade will see a few new stall holders attend as well as

displays from the CFS and Scouts. Cale was nominated by the Two Wells Scouts Group for his involvement in the group and the community, while Two Wells resident Norma Handley nominated Tameka for her commitment to sports, dedication to

helping others and effort and enthusiasm in all she does. Look out for these two young “royals” at the Two Wells Christmas Street Parade on Friday, December 16. n MORE parade details, Page 10
