BLOOMING WHITEWAY SUCCESS THE FIRST ever Blooming Whiteway Front Gardens Festival has blossomed into an impressive event connecting residents all over the estate. Throughout most of the summer season, Whiteway gardeners were sowing, growing and mowing, making their gardens as beautiful and eye-catching as possible for the competition. Every garden entered had its own Blooming Whiteway sign on display to show that the owners were taking part. Judges regularly did the rounds visiting all the front gardens to see how they had grown. And some fabulous prizes for the awards ceremony were donated by Hillier Garden Centre, Prior Park Garden Centre and Bath City Farm. The awards were presented in a packed room at Bath City Farm one day in July, with lots of categories for different types of garden. Pictured right is Hayley Archer, winner of a Community Asset Garden Award. Hayley said, “My mum taught me my green skills.” The Blooming Whiteway Front Gardens Festival is the brainchild of Whiteway resident Claire Loder - pictured on page 3 leading a planting activity with children. If you would like to enter the 2018 festival, then please register your garden at: www.bloomingwhiteway.com/sign-up .
