MMPNO Biographies of 2023 Scholarship Recipients

Lochelle Cox

Lochelle is enrolled at Seattle University School of Nursing and will graduate June 2024. She is a proud first-generation college student. Her interest in professional nursing developed during her CNA program where she met the physical and emotional needs of elderly patients in their homes. Lochelle is mindful of health care inequities and desires to assist in change to improve the well-being of patients. She believes nurses must have the capability to listen, learn and have empathy for others.

Abraham M. Desta

Abraham is enrolled in Seattle University's Nursing Program and will graduate in August 2024. His long-term goal is to become a Nurse Anesthetist. Abram grew up and spent most of his young life in Eritrea, a country that did not provide adequate health professionals and care. After arriving in the United States, his journey to becoming a professional nurse is a goal he and his family had for him since childhood.

Etsubdink Enkuanhone

Etsubdink is enrolled in the University of Washington's Nursing Program and will graduate in June 2024. Estubdink is a mother of two children, who migrated from Ethiopia. The loss of her father at an early age, lack of accessible health care facilities and health care providers for him, influenced her decision to become a professional nurse Her decision is also influenced by the care she received from nurses during and following deliver of her son.

Minylehai Feleko

Minylehai Feleko is enrolled in the University of Washington's Nursing Program and will graduate in June 2024. He has always had a passion for learning how the body works. In 2017 he moved to the United States from Ethopia and was accepted into the BSN program at the University of Washington. His interest in nursing stems from caring for an ill grandmother. His future goal is to work in refugee camps and underrepresented communities.
