Free Food Box Distribution

FRIDAY, OCT 7 12:00-1:00 PM | ONLINE

WEDNESDAY, OCT 5 10:00 AM-1:30 PM Register to receive a free, and healthy food box, which will contain a mixture of perishable, and non-perishable items. The food boxes will be located at the AARTH office for pick up between 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM. Online registration is required. Anyone is welcome to register for a free food box.

Mental Wealth Group With Rickey Leachman SATURDAY, OCT 8 | 10:00-11:00 AM | ONLINE Join AARTH and Rickey Leachman for group discussions on mental wealth. The groups will meet virtually once a month on Saturday's at 10:00 AM. This is the fourth session of six and will dive into spiritual and social self-care, mindfulness, and more. The groups are geared toward unpaid caregivers, but all are welcome!

Soulful Cooking with Chef Adunni SATURDAY, OCT 22 | 10:00 AM | ONLINE Join AARTH, and Chef Adunni as we prepare a veggie casserole in under 60 minutes. Chef Adunni Graduated from Johnson and Wales University with a degree in Science and Culinary Nutrition.

She is also a Food Scientist, and business owner of Taste Tutor LLC.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness of this complex disease and fund research into its causes, treatment, and cure. Since 1985, individuals, businesses, and communities have come together every October to show their support for the many people affected by breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month can be a time to reflect, give back, or even celebrate.

As we move into another Fall season, it is important to remember that HIV/AIDS continues regardless of the time of year or the population experiencing the disease.

HIV/AIDS reaches into every community. This month, we will be acknowledging the impact of HIV on the Hispanic/Latino communities.

We are urged to remember that HIV disproportionately affects Hispanic/Latino communities. Although they are 18.5% of the total population of this country, they have been 29% of new infections in recent years.

In Washington State, 15% of those living with HIV are Hispanic/Latino. A lot of them are not getting tested or accessing treatment because they might be undocumented or don’ t have health care.

There are several things we can do to combat this.

Encourage Testing: when people know their HIV status, they can do something to keep from getting sick and to keep others from becoming infected.

Encourage Treatment and Care: persons with HIV are living longer and better lives because of the medications available these days Encourage Everyone to get COVID Vaccination: having COVID makes persons with HIV sicker and increases their chances of dying from the virus On October 15th, remember that HIV/AIDS does not discriminate. Together we can stop the spread of this disease; together we can ALL live in health and happiness!

Let's Knock Out Covid!

COVID-19 vaccines are effective at keeping you from getting COVID-19, especially severe illness and death. Vaccines are safe, effective, and free!

To help protect yourself and others from COVID-19: Get vaccinated and stay up to date on your COVID-19 vaccines.

Everyone ages 2 years and older should properly wear a well-fitting mask indoors in public in areas where the COVID-19 Community Level is high, regardless of vaccination status.

Avoid poorly ventilated spaces and crowds.

Test to prevent spread to others.

Wash your hands often. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Cover coughs and sneezes.

Clean high touch surfaces regularly or as needed and after you have visitors in your home. If someone is sick or has tested positive for COVID-19, disinfect frequently touched surfaces.

Monitor your health daily.

Self care: If you have possible or confirmed COVID-19: Stay home except to get medical care.

Monitor your symptoms.

Get tested as soon as possible after your symptoms start.

Get rest and stay hydrated. Take over-the-counter medicines, such as acetaminophen, to help you feel better.

Call ahead before visiting your doctor.

If you are sick, wear a well-fitting mask.
