Retiring, But Not Leaving the Fight

We extend our heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to Dr Renee McCoy, who will officially retire from her position as HIV Programs Manager at AARTH as of July 1. Dr. McCoy has been a foundational leader, visionary, and tireless advocate for health justice, HIV education, and the creation of safe spaces for the Black LGBTQ community

Although she is stepping down from her formal role, Dr. McCoy will remain closely connected to AARTH as a consultant, providing support through trainings and collaborative efforts to educate, eradicate HIV, and support LGBTQ communities Within that context she will continue as the co-investigator of AARTH’s research project, It Takes a Village, which explores the survival strategies of Black longterm survivors of HIV Her leadership and presence in key community health initiatives reflective of the mission of AARTH will also continue These include the Sankofa Health Collaborative, a network of organizations and individuals working to address health inequities for BIPOC communities, and the Ending HIV/AIDS One Prayer at a Time Campaign, which addresses HIV through spiritual activities She enthusiastically remains committed to the mission and visions of AARTH and excited to be part of our emerging efforts to create healthy communities

We are honored to have been led by her wisdom and passion, and look forward to the ongoing contributions she will make in this next chapter of her life Thank you, Dr McCoy, for your unwavering commitment and lasting impact
