A special edition of TunnelTalk charting some of the most influential developments in the Canadian tunnelling and underground space excavation industry. Case studies from the early 1990s provide a backdrop for howprojects of today are planned, funded, designed and constructed. Case study articles report on early metro excavation projects in Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto; the TBM rail link under the St Clair River between Canada and the USA in the 1990s; and the Niagara hydropower diversion tunnel and the Seymour-Capilano water tunnels of the early 2000s. The issue also looks back at the major industry news reports in Canada over the past two decades, a review of the successful WTC, World Tunnel Congress, held in Vancouver in 2010 and a listing of those individuals and projects honoured with TAC Awards since they were introduced in 2012.
