The healthcare system is changing rapidly, and more urgently needed than ever are physicians with an advanced knowledge of business. To address this need, the Rawls College of Business and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine have partnered
OBTAIN LEADERSHIP SKILLS FOR THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY
to offer a dual degree program where students can earn both a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Business Administration (HOM) within the four years of medical school. The MD/MBA dual degree produces outstanding physicians with an insight into the intricacies of healthcare management systems, finance, economics and delivery.
ONLINE COURSEWORK
This educational background gives physicians an advanced business expertise to enable them to more effectively manage the business of healthcare as they develop their own practices.
How it Works Students typically complete the 42 hour MBA (HOM) program in 15
GRADUATE MEDICAL SCHOOL WITH AN MBA
months. Students attend MBA classes online (with the exception of a 3-hour preceptorship) during the summers before and after the first year of the medical curriculum (18 hours each summer). Six hours of the first-year SOM courses are transferred in to complete the degree requirements.
