In Mrs Olivieri's Senior Chemistry class , Megan Kim, Nicole Gehret, Alexis Hill '18 , Khanh Vo , Sophia Promponas '18, perform the Elephant Toothpaste lab. By combining 30 % hydrogen peroxide (H202), potassium iodide (KI) and dish soap, a decomposition of hydrogen peroxide followed in which an eruption occurred, generating 02 (oxygen), H20 (water), and heat energy . This exothermic reaction forced the solution out of a large graduated cylinder, producing oxygen, which caused the dish soap to form an excessive amount of bubbles. The addition of Kl to the solution increased the reaction time because potassium iodide is known as a catalyst, a mixture or single element that speeds up or slows down a reaction.

Sarah Thompson '17 thought of and brought to fruition Seton's First Annual Disability Awareness Week to bring awareness to autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, learning disabilities. The week culminated in a a Unified Field Day that brought together students from three other Chandler schools for fun and games Sarah is a Special Olympics coach and several Special Olympics competitors joined the games .

Day of the Dead , Dia de los Muertos is a important day . Th is day is a celebration of life and death Our own Sra Hoff explains why this holiday is important: "Day of the Dead is important to many people because it is a day that you believe that your family's souls comes back to earth for the day to enjoy the things they used to enjoy when they were alive ." Sra Hoff also expressed the reasons Dia de los Muertos is special to her personally , "Many of my family members have passed , and because of this Dia de los Muertos is a very important day to me . I get to remember my dad , my mother and my sister and all of the things they used to enjoy to do. "

Sra Hoff also took time to explain how she personally celebrates El Dia de Los Muertos. The 2017 Sentinel was created by the Publications Staff at Seton Catholic Preparatory in Chandler, AZ. This book was printed by Jostens, Inc., using Yearbook Avenue, Replayit, Adobe Photoshop CC, and Google Forms. The book was produced using Dell computers , Windows 8, 64 bit memory. The theme of the the yearbook was chosen by the 201 7 Staff. The yearbook adviser is Mrs. Tole and staff includes Brandon Allison, Ryan Rodrick, Forest Sweet, Madeleine Williamson, Julia Williamson, Nicole Hartley, and Shea Eubanks. The colors used in this book are , , and VT navy, Seton Red and , black and white. The text was printed in AYT Return to Earth in various point sizes and AYT Foundations Sans. This book was produced with digital photos taken by staff members, Seton students, faculty, parents, and other volunteers.
