BREAKING

OUT

The theme of this edition of THE SENTINEL is "Breaking Out," a motto which accurately sums up the 199.3'94 school year at Seton.

This was the year when student enrollment and staff size reached new highs, when new uniform, gum, and other policies were instituted, when athletic fields were relocated and upgraded, when the weight room was moved and expanded, when the library was rearranged and became computerized.

Most of all, this was the year when construction was finally begun on the new Seton Catholic gymnasium.

Junior year. Freedom. The ability to finally designate one's self an upperclassman. POWER. Though junior year is arguably the most difficult academically, socially we've either found our niche or we can forever hold our peace alone on a Friday night.

The majority of us drive, though a car of our own is just a dream.

Perhaps the great advantage of being juniors is our reign over those who still must experience the terror we have escaped - underclassmen. But do not fret, frosh and sophs. You'll be as old as us one day but never as great!

FOOTBALL SENTINELS LOOK TO THE FUTURE

MAYBE NEXT YEAR

The 199.3 varsity football Sentinels fought hard this year but came up short. With the loss of some key players, the squad used all their resources, even trying some people at unfamiliar positions, all doing their best.

The team was led by senior lineman Louis Olivas and junior quarterbackjreceiver Matt Meister. Senior kicker Jim Omohundro also did a fine job for Seton Catholic, along with sophomore Ramon Bernasconi and newcomer Deven Torrez.

Overall, the Sentinels remain a young team. Along with their coaches and fans, they are eagerly looking forward to next season.

SENTINELS WITH A FUTURE ...

This year' s junior varsity football squad proved themselves to be part of a legitimate program. Under the leadership of coaches Hedges and DiDomenico , the JV Sentinels fought for two victories , both against Queen Creek.

Upperclassmen Pete Mayo, Steve Mikac and Israel Garza took control of the team, and these players should provide excellent resources for Seton Catholic in years to come.
