A bright future begins today.

2011 ANNUAL REPORT

Message from the Chairman Now more than ever, the mission of the Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation is the most effective initiative we can support for the future of St. Louis’ inner city children. As you page through this report, when you visit one of our schools, or participate in our annual Gala, we know that you will be inspired by the children, and the people who make a difference in their lives. Positive MOMENTUM is building in the city of St. Louis as evidenced by a record setting 1,900 plus students receiving Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation scholarships triple the number from four years ago. Despite severe economic challenges, schools, families and Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation are finding ways to provide the opportunity for a quality education. Families living on the margin are struggling but they have HOPE. They are hopeful about their children’s future because of the quality education they are receiving. They know that the children who attend the Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation schools succeed regardless of racial, ethnic, religious or academic background. To follow through on the promise of this momentum and the hope of so many parents, ACTION is required. Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation is taking action to leverage relationships with local and national funders and partnerships with the business and civic community are changing the tide of opportunity for families who too often feel locked into poverty-stricken communities. Through your generous partnership, the efforts of our students, and the commitment of so many teachers, principals and parents, nearly 1,900 children are studying in safe and caring schools, which saves taxpayers tens of millions of dollars. On behalf of the children we serve, we hope that you will keep the momentum going through your many actions to ensure that they will continue to have access to high quality parochial and private education in the inner city. We are so grateful.

Kevin M. Short Chairman

Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation

Mission Statement The Today and Tomorrow Educational Foundation – following the example of Jesus Christ in His service to those in need – assists faith based and private schools in providing quality, affordable and accessible educational opportunities for any economically disadvantaged family within the St. Louis region by generating financial assistance in the form of scholarships from local and national funding sources.

Scholarship Recipient Spotlights Just Starting Out Chloe C. Chloe is a kindergartner at City Academy. Her mother, Karen told us, “The Today and Tomorrow Scholarship is a gift to our family that cannot be measured. Residing in St. Louis City, the curriculums are really limited and I knew a Private Institution would be a better fit for my daughter. The Today and Tomorrow Scholarship has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders as I sacrifice to aid my child in receiving the best quality education possible. Paying for her tuition is really affordable with the assistance of this scholarship, and I appreciate being selected. Programs like the Today and Tomorrow Scholarship are extremely beneficial to kids that are bright with promising futures, but may not have the resources to pay for private school funding. City Academy has helped Chloe to excel. Working together with City Academy and the Today and Tomorrow Scholarship is a match made in heaven. Today, I sent my child to a private school that cultivates the love of learning. Tomorrow, she is constantly blossoming.”

8th Grade Graduate Marta Rasas Marta Rasas is a freshman at Notre Dame High School. She has an older brother and 3 younger siblings. All 5 children attended school with scholarships from the Today and Tomorrow program. Mona, Marta’s mother, wished to “thank all those who reached out to help them.” “Our family would not have been able to achieve this education without help. “ Marta attended St. Frances Cabrini Academy grade school. There, she was on Student Council as the 8th grade representative, played soccer and basketball. Her favorite class at Cabrini was Language Arts. At Notre Dame, Marta’s high school, she enjoys Culinary Arts, Drama Essentials and is in the Art Club. Marta is so thankful for her education she is happy she was given “this education, a better education.” She wants to be a Pediatrician and is taking science and health classes to help her achieve that goal.

8th Grade Graduate Josh Reyes Josh (Josue) Reyes is a freshman at St. Mary’s High School. Josh is the youngest of three children from a bilingual family. He attended St. Frances Cabrini Academy. At Cabrini, he was on Student Council, played soccer, basketball and participated in the Model UN program. His favorite subjects were Art and Math. He felt Cabrini helped him prepare for St. Mary’s High School. Josh is grateful for the “great education” he has received from Cabrini and is receiving from St. Mary’s. He hopes others can receive the scholarship, like he did, so they can have the opportunity to receive a “great education.” At St. Mary’s he is a member of the wrestling team and is involved in Theatre. Josh would like to be a detective or join the Military after high school.

TTEF Alumni at College A.J. Collins A.J. attended St. John the Baptist Elementary School and Bishop DuBourg High School. He graduated in May, 2011 from Bishop DuBourg High School with a 4.3 gpa (would have been higher except he struggled in calculus) and he currently attends Southeast Missouri State. In high school he earned his Eagle Scout award, attended the Luke 18 programs and retreats and as an upperclassman coordinated the retreats. He is strong in his faith and is grateful for his Catholic education. A.J. is leaning toward a career as a psychologist since he has a strong desire and passion to help others. “My family and I look forward to the day when we can help a family receive a scholarship to attend a Catholic school.”
