CELEBRATINGAMILLIONDREAMS

Inclusionisamajorgoalthatwe, theBoardMembers and Founder of Ashley's Learning Center, strive to achieve. We are dedicated to ensuring that our students have the opportunity to experience the same academic and extracurricular activities as typically developing students It took us eight years after its opening to accomplish one such milestone, but we are overjoyed to have been able to achieve this goal With the help of our consultant, teachers, parents, and supporters, we hosted our first annual AchievementDayCeremonyonJuly5th,2023.

For such a momentous occasion, it was only appropriate to have it held in a church provided by Christ is the Answer Ministry, located opposite the school, and who is more fitting to be our Guest Speaker than Pastor Claudette Basden, Sr Pastor/ExecutiveDirectoratATouchofLoveMinistries Int'l Center. The ceremony was attended by a large number of students, parents, and community members. The church was filled with an atmosphere of excitement and pride as we celebrated the achievementsofourstudents

Pastor Claudette Basden delivered a powerful and heartfelt speech that emphasized the importance of inclusive education and the impact it can have on the lives of students with special needs. Her words resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring everyone to continue supporting and advocating for inclusivelearningenvironments

This day was made possible with the help of our supporters, sponsors, volunteers, Parents and Teachers, for which we are forever grateful, but even more appreciative to our Consultant for taking us under her wings and reviving our spirit. It was her choice of the Theme - Celebrating a Million Dreams thatwastheessenceoftheevent

What is inclusion?

Inclusion is a philosophy that urges schools, neighborhoods and communities to welcome and value everyone, regardless of differences. Central to the philosophy of inclusion are the beliefs that everyone belongs, diversity is valued and we can all learn from each other.

Simply put, inclusion means removing barriers. It allows children with developmental disabilities to participate in all activities on an equal basis with others and to be valued members of society.

Five inclusive mindsets that shape behaviors are: self-awareness, curiosity, courage, vulnerability and empathy. These mindsets are critical for one ' s ability to create an environment where all feel respected, valued, and able to contribute their best.
