TI’s Maroons Army March celebrates 17 years

The 17th annual Maroon Army March went ahead on Waiben last week, despite the series “whitewash”, organiser and supporter Elsie Seriat says. She said the tradition started in 2006.

“It was good to have the numbers come through,” she said.

“At the end of the day, it’s about something fun for the community, and it didn’t matter because we had already taken out the series.

“We still had the spirit, so we did it anyway – we do it for the whitewash, we do it for the series, we do it for a tie, or we just do it if the shoe was on the other foot, we still would march.

“It was good to have the community come down and support it as always.”
