BY ALF WILSON

Electric fullback

Tristan Sailor ran for 174 metres and made 21 runs whilst Ezra Mam scored a try when the Brisbane Broncos defeated the Canterbury Bulldogs 44-24 at Belmore Oval in Sydney on Saturday.

The round 20 match was entertaining, and in a great all round performance Tristan also made a try assist.

The Broncos led 22-18 at halftime and Ezra scored his try at the

Maroons State of Origin hero Reuben Cotter scored a try for the Cowboys soon after coming off the interchange bench when the North Queenslanders defeated Manly 19-8 at Sydney’s 4 Pines Stadium (Brookvale) on Saturday.

The Cowboys stampede continues.

It was their fifth win in a row and they have charged up the ladder into ninth.

They were 15th earlier in the season, after winning only two of their first seven matches and were rated a 100-1 chance for premiership honours.

They have firmed to 15-1.

Normally Reuben would be in the run on side but after a body draining Origin game he started on the bench.

His try came after a line busting run by centre Valentine Holmes to pass him the ball.

The Cowboys have a home game blockbuster next Saturday at Townsville’s Queensland Country Bank Stadium against the Parramatta Eels.

Hammer scores again

Prolific try scoring machine Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow scored yet another four pointer when his Dolphins went down 24-14 to premiers

Penrith Panthers at Redcliffe’s Kayo Stadium on Sunday.

The man known as the Hammer scored at the 58th minute backing up after last Wednesday’s appearance for the Queensland Maroons during which he also scored a try.

Playing as a centre, the Hammer was dangerous every time he touched the ball and attracted plenty of attention from the Panthers defence.

Fifita solid in Titans loss

Second row forward David Fifita had a solid game when his Gold Coast Titans loss 25-24 to the Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium on Sunday.

Seb gets a rest Inspirational fullback Sebastian “Seb” Kris enjoyed a week off when his side the Canberra Raiders had a bye.

The Raiders will meet a quality Warriors side next Friday night as they attempt to continue their recent winning form.
