A sustainable residential structure that not only shows environmental concern but also captures visual appeal was developed by our group, which is acknowledged in the contributors. We chosethe name “Hiraeth,” which means “longing for home,” in order to conjure up a pleasant emotion that is shared by the larger community. Hiraeth incorporates numerous environmentally friendly elements in order to enjoy its closeness to nature. The design exudes a profound sense of tranquilly due to the seamless incorporation of biophilic and native components. The harmonic interaction of these components enhances the experience of admiring the structure by producing a calming ambiance that promotes peace and tranquilly.

HILLCREST COMMUNITY SCHOOL NATURE CENTRE

A school that puts sustainability first creates a warm environment that encourages young children’s enjoyment of learning while also educating them. This school wants to reduce its impact on the environment while encouraging pupils to be environmentally aware people. To that end, it emphasises eco-friendly practises and design features. This idea seeks to develop a better future for succeeding generations through its sustainable approach, engaging learning environment, and active community involvement.

The building’s ventilation and heating systems will be natural and sustainable. Openings like movable windows, rooftop vents, or thermostat-controlled louvres can let wind ventilation through by using air pressure differences in summers. By receiving the positive wind pressure that pushes towards the building, the windward side (inlet) effectively receives it. On the other hand, the positive wind flow is pulled by the exit on the leeward side. For the winter, a heating system is to be installed. Three different trash cans are also available in the building in addition to that. Hazardous garbage should go in the Black Bin, recyclables should go in the Blue Bin, and organic wet items that can decompose should go in the Green Bin. LED lightings have also been installed throughout the building.

SITE PLAN

The Hillcrest Nature Community School Center's site layout displays a seamless connection with the natural environment, expressing a dedication to sustainability and encouraging outdoor involvement. The building's link to nature is strengthened by how seamlessly the vast landscape blends with it. A comfortable and welcoming learning atmosphere is created thanks to careful consideration of the building's siting, which also offers optimal natural light and ventilation. Furthermore, the inclusion of an enjoyable small open picnic area provides an enticing outdoor location for children to enjoy meals and socialise, immersing them even deeper in the natural beauty of the surrounds. This site proposal for the Hillcrest Nature Community School Centre blends functionality, sustainability, and a caring outdoor experience.

LINOLEUM FLOORING

The name “linoleum” refers to a smooth floor covering created by pressing a solidified mixture of linseed oil, flax, cork, wood flour, and pigments onto a canvas backing.

Linoleum is a versatile floor covering because of its many advantageous traits. It provides a strong, antistatic, resilient, colorfast, water, grease, and oil-resistant, antibacterial walking surface in addition to being antistatic, resilient, and resilient.

(Critical Radiant Flux: Class 1 Rating per NFPA 253 (ASTM E 648) (0.45 watts/cm² or greater).

Smoke Density: Less than 450 per NFPA 258 (ASTM E 662).

TIMBER is a natural building and construction material that can take many different forms. Timber is non-toxic because it is a product of nature. Timber does not corrode in locations that are heavily industrial or exposed to sea air, unlike steel and other commonly used building materials. Uniquely constructed of curved wood, the gallery section has an amaing exterior structure with interior timber finish throughout the building.

FIBERGLASS constructed of glass is utilised to make the window frames. The durability of fibreglass serves as evidence of its strength. Fiberglass window frames resist denting, scratches, warping, and corrosion better than other window materials do. Extreme heat and cold are not a problem for fibreglass windows.

NORTH ELEVATION

The building’s double-glazed SUNSHIELD GLASS can resist even the worst weather conditions. It is more resistant to tropical heat, cold weather, and thunderstorms. Against UV radiation, the sheet is shielded.

SOUTH ELEVATION

For beauty that endures in any climate, thermal modification improves each board’s stability and endurance. Thermo clear wood cladding, which is completely sustainable, environmentally benign, and minimal maintenance makes up the building’s façade. Along with being totally recyclable, it offers strong stability, excellent strength, and exceptional rot resistance.

SMALL HOUSE PROJECT

I worked on a fantastic project to create a small residence that incorporates openness, environmental friendliness, and a peaceful living environment during my second year of education. The goal was to design a home that seamlessly combines contemporary design within with a dash of classic charm outside. The porch, which is embellished with a flight of gently curved stairs that direct guests to the front door, is one of the main architectural features that draws attention in the external design.

The site design incorporates numerous biophilic elements, creating a strong connection with nature. Upon examining the site plan, it becomes apparent that the entire area, except for the building and parking space, is beautifully covered with lush green grass. This natural landscape surrounding the house contributes to its overall environmental friendliness and enhances the peaceful atmosphere.

Moving on to the building itself, it boasts three levels: a basement, a first floor, and a second story. On the first level, an open concept design is employed to seamlessly integrate the kitchen and dining area, promoting a sense of spaciousness. Adjacent to the dining area, the family room provides a cozy space for relaxation and socialization. To add a touch of authenticity, a modest nook is thoughtfully incorporated next to the living room, enhancing the overall charm of the interior.

Ascending the stairs located next to the entrance, one arrives at the second floor, which features a well-thought-out design. The corridor leads to two bedrooms and culminates with the master bedroom, offering a tranquil retreat at the far end. This arrangement ensures privacy while maximizing comfort and convenience for the occupants.

AURORA CAR DEALERSHIP

The design of our proposed auto dealership combines sustainability with imaginative architecture. We designed a building that blends in with its surroundings, employs sustainable resources, and emits little carbon. It includes imaginative components that encourage a bond between the inhabitants and the surrounding environment. The curved roof structure of the building, which evokes motion and fluidity, is one of its most inventive and appealing features. The building has an open floor plan, high ceilings, and abundance of natural light. It includes ventilation to improve the building’s indoor air quality.

Numerous eco-friendly features are included in our structure, including geothermal heating and cooling, an energy-efficient building automation system, low-emission paints and varnishes, and FSC-certified wood used in construction. Our design is flexible and adaptive, enabling modifications and alterations as requirements and technologies change. In conclusion, our building fulfils the needs of its users in a way that encourages sustainability, social interaction, and environmental responsibility.

WALL SECTION MODEL

As part of our assignment, we were tasked with building a 1:20 scale physical model of a wall section. This hands-on activity provided us with valuable insights into the components nestled within the walls, such as insulation, stud walls, and air filtering systems. Through the process, we discovered the significance of accuracy in constructing a physical model, realizing that precision is vital to project success.

Moreover, this assignment fostered a sense of camaraderie and appreciation for teamwork. Collaborating with my peers allowed us to pool our individual strengths and work cohesively towards a shared goal. It emphasized the importance of effective communication, coordination, and synergy within a group setting. Through this experience, we not only deepened our understanding of wall construction but alsocultivated valuable interpersonal and collaborative skills that will benefit us in future endeavors.
