Feeling Low Letter: Take a Walk
Ruthie Mayfield
Remember all those who care for you? Remember all the times you’ve looked in the mirror and smiled at your own white teeth? Take a walk outside to walk out of your head, out of the wandering thoughts with shifting foundations Because you deserve to enjoy what the day has stored up just for you Don’t listen to the voices that pummel you down into those dirt-filled ruts you have dug, Why not listen to the trees outstretching, to smell the wind blowing, to feel the weather’s pressure drop into your being? Remember that feeling, and hold it in your hand like a spirit only you know. One that only you can experience. And know, you’re a good person who deserves to enjoy all that life has to offer, And to make the most of all the Love you can give, and All the Love you can get. The clichés seem cliché until you realize regret’s power, So climb outside, up the ladder to your treehouse of memories past, present, and future And toss confetti to the wind in all directions Only you can give what you can give, so add the spice And remember all the wonderful ingredients already baked in. Know all the good will overpower all the bad, and what’s good to you is only your kind of good. So take advantage of your wisdom and understand, That life is better than you make it out to be, it really is.
