The Unseen Thing Before Our Very Eyes
Jamie Lim
Our eyes awaken from the light of the sun, Seeping through the cracks of the blinds. It shines like stars, like gems one finds. However, though it's something I always see, The light fails to reach me. As the shadows surround me, The dark, once again, engulfs me.
Focused on the light we so strive to see, We become blinded to see both sides, However, as one says, “There’s light in every darkness” It is also true That there is darkness in every light.
The shadows that bring about fear, Gives peace to those who understand it. The shadows that others scorn, Gives tranquility to those who welcome it. And now, I crawl back to the darkness, Unaware of the world’s likeness. As the night gives birth to the dimness, I feel the shadows bestow me.
