The snake looked at me across the room He sensed the shadow near The air - chilled with desolation An unfamiliar melancholy

Outside of my door Dusk was approaching on his soul Desert sun penetrated the window Yet there was no light

His snake held the truth behind its eyes But tried to shield me from it It was only a fleeting glance A quick visit But the memory is here

I left the snake in the desert The shadow has lifted I can see the sun now His eyes provide the light
