To develop a site comprising of five guesthouses, each occupying an area of approximately 70 square meters. The design should also incorporate a wine-tasting area and an outdoor space that provides an inviting and inclusive environment for guests to socialize and interact.
LOCATION: Assisi, Italy
HISTORY:
The founder of Tili Vini Winery began cultivating the hills of Assisi in 1200. Keeping the passion alive forcenturies, the vineyard has been handed down fromfather to son. The company continues to grow as their wines and oils, produced with a commitment to respecting the ecosystem, are imported to various locations around the world.
INFLUENCE:
The complex represents traditionalItalian courtyard homes, which feature structures surrounding a central open space optimized for vegetation and water sources. Taking inspiration from historical countryside villas and the sight of the sunset, which fills the sky of various bright colors, to guide the design and materiality of the structures.
CONCEPTSTATEMENT:
To blur the boundaries between internal and external zones to create a vacation villa that encourages social interaction and connection to nature. The site will implement the notion of accessibility to emphasize the idea of integration. Sustainable materiality will serve to harmonize the building structures with their surrounding typography. The concept of layering, inspired by the Assisi sunset, will promote the guest homes' dynamic connection to the vast landscape. Contrasted by the tasting area which strongly depicts the family-run business to act as the complex's conceptual center-point.

Meant to act as a structure where visitors may roam and socialize, the tasting and dining space would be open to guests and community. Featuring a full service commercial kitchen, accessible bathrooms, and an unobstructed mountain view patio great for watching the sunsets each evening. The indoor outdoor wood-burning fireplace blurs the line between the interior and exterior zones and creates a great way for guests to work together and connect with nature.
The chosen materials showcase a thoughtful layering of colors and textures, reminiscent of a captivating sunset and emphasizing the concept of integrating nature indoors. By incorporating both new and reused materials, this approach not only enhances the visual appeal but also underscores a dedication to sustainability.

Collaboration and productivity serve as the driving forces behind the design, aiming to create an environment that fosters effective teamwork and enhances overall work performance. One of the most common workplace complaints is a lack of acoustical privacy; incorporating acoustical dampening materials will absorb excess sound and provide a more comfortable and pleasing environment free of distractions (Herman Miller, 2007). To further enhance user satisfaction and task completion, self-regulating applications will be implemented (Meerwarth et al., 2008). Additionally, the design incorporates various restorative spaces with biophilic elements for primary users to recharge and experience increased psychological satisfaction, while conveniently placed informal and formal collaboration zones along travel routes facilitate teamwork, reduce stress, and encourage the cross-fertilization of ideas (Augustin, 2009).

Provide a more efficient layout in terms of convenience
Demonstrate a sense of organizational hierarchy through systems or grouping
Maintain occupant satisfaction by accountingfor accoustical and visual privacy
Implementing collaborative spaces that account for accoustical privacy to limit distraction
Inspired by the concept of a tree, this collaboration area incorporates wood paneling and the existing column grid to create a restorative and productive zone. The accousticalceiling panels are cleverly placed to mimic the leaves and branches of a tree supporting the concept of biophilia while maintaining sound levels. The carpet flooring not only brings comfort to the area, but also eases the stress of collaboration and aims to be reminiscent of a lively forest floor. This space is strategically placed in a central circulation zone to encourage approachability and increase employee psychological satisfaction.
